What we have here is a scammer joining the forum, pretending they spent £3k on the site and trying to find a mug to buy it.
Sites like this are created and "flipped" every day on Flippa, they pretend it is worth this that or the other, 99% of sites on flippa are a useless waste of time and the most expensive site sold on there was taken down after was deranked by Google. They paid a mid six figure sum in dollars for it, it made $35k a month but had returns on $17k. Most of that was done by adwords and bad SEO, hence it was delisted and income went to zero.
In reality, a genuine website is worth about 16x the net profit IF you can find someone able to do the running of the site. It is a bit like selling any business they want to be able to run it without you.
The formula for calculating is as follows:
Verified Traffic (Google Analytics), which then shows where they went, how many converted, what the profits per customer are etc etc. It needs to be a formula that replicates under audit.
As I said you can pick them up for $50 on Flippa
https://flippa.com/websites/all?query=pet
The type of site suggested is called a dropship site, you take the orders and you pass them to a supplier, is an old formula that again requires traffic.
It may not even have the suppliers set up.
Compare that to this site by a broker on flippa, makes $27k a month doing mailing and is for sale for $325k the traffic and income are laid out. Even it may not be genuine, due dilligence applies

She was playing the long game then ... after all she joined the forum in June 2007 - almost 10 years ago.
(Albeit her only posts have been this week).

A website name is worth what someone will pay for it. You also have to be careful it does not sound too similar to an existing brand.
Hate to say it op but I think you will struggle. The website???? Honestly can cost pennies to make. E Commerce sites would also need the new owner to sign up for the facility to take payments so just buying the site would not always mean that they could start trading.
I would cancel the hosting and keep the domain. You never know.
P.s Good luck in your new job.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post.

Just as a quick FYI...... I am far from being "a scammer" I came on here looking for genuine advice.
After yesterday's postings I realised I was being misunderstood. You will see in my original post, I was not ever actually trying to sell my site to any one of you. I am well aware you all have the skills to develop these sites cheaper than what I paid, not once did I ask if any of you wanted it. I merely wanted advice on WHERE I can sell it, if selling it at all was even an option.
Yes, my account has been active for ten years. I do view and visit this site on a regular occurrence, however I have not needed to post until now, I didn't realise this made me a scammer. Forgive for thinking this site was the place to come for advice not critique. I am a 32 year female, trying to start my life over, I really could do without judgmental comments. I am deeply offended by your posting.0 -
We do get a lot of it here though, especially from first time posters .. So you will have to forgive the mass for being a bit skeptical
(Im sure you have seen examples of this if you are a regular reader)
Hopefully post #2 was what you were looking for, or even that flippa site that has been mentioned.
Good on you for trying, sorry it hasnt worked out for you and good luck in your next venture0 -
