Too many Enquiries?

Options
Hi all,

I'm just checking my credit file and I have about 35 or so enquirers listed on my file since September 2015! A lot of them from 2015 to March 2016 are from a company called uk search ltd which lists a very old address I lived at when I click on the entry to find out more info. I've not been at that address for well over 10 years so don't know why they've been trying to find me for so long. any debt would of been statute barred almost twice over.

Another one that appears a awful lot is capital one. I did try and do their soft search on their web site to see if I'd be accepted that kept on saying unable to find you with the details you given or something along those lines. so I tried and tried again incase the time I lived at my past addresses were a year out or something.. Still no luck. Now I have about 7 enquireis added on just one day as a result.

Can anyone confirm if having so many enquiries is having a negative affect on my credit history?

I also have a few searches listed under Audits which is just stuff like comparison site searches.

  • They're soft searches and ID checks, so no.

uk search ltd appear to be a debt collection agency - I can see links with certain water companies so if you have any old debts relating to utilities that might explain that.

Check your file to see if any of these are actual credit searches or if they are ID checks/soft searches. As ZX says - those have no impact on your history at all and can only be seen by you.

    Cheers :)

I think they are just ID/soft checks. I'm using checkmyfile and under "type" these ones are listed under enquires. My actual credit applications are listed under credit searches so hopefully all ok! That puts my mind at rest :)

Uk search ltd makes sense now I think there probably was outstanding water bill in my name when me and my ex split up a very long time ago. I cancelled the direct soon after I moved out after the latest payment went out but stupidly didn't call them to inform them I've moved out. I think she also moved out soon after. I hadn't received any letters at my current addresses otherwise I would of paid. This was back in 2008 ish so should be statue barred after having no contact with them hopefully. Just glad I can't see any signs of the water company on my credit file though there probably was but have fallen off by the time I've finally decided to check my file in late 2016!
