O/S Daily Wednesday 8 February 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

JackieO - hope you had a great day x

Still dark here, cold, damp and dismal here - yesterday was awful most of the day then the sky did clear and we got some spells of sun for a short while.

Dinner last night was an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had a portion of fish pie that I dug out of the freezer with veg. Tonight we will be having haggis, mash, carrots and gravy, a bit late but I couldn't get haggis anywhere locally at the appropriate time.

Work yesterday wasn't as busy but steady - and today I'm working in an office on my own so always enjoy that after a busy start to the week, the job I'm doing is also not so pressurized, I'm still working the extra hours too so a full day, then I'm on days' off until Monday. I have engineer booked tomorrow to look at the fridge/freezer, I'm not going to be happy if they try to tell me that what I'm experiencing is normal - food freezing in the fridge cabinet when it's set at +4 degrees is not normal, and the amount of noise, clanking and banging, it didn't make this amount of noise for the first 2 years either. We'll see what they have to say.

I'll be doing all my normal chores and "to do" list tomorrow and Friday.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning.

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

LaineyT Thinking of you and wishing you well for today.

Early wake up here again :( and daunted by the day ahead as I'm so tired. It is absolutely blowing a gale outside. So wish I could stay wrapped up in my duvet all day.

Nothing of note to say, except I have just been to the kitchen to get a glass of milk and seen the pile of pots from last nights dinner sat there waiting to be washed up!! *sighs* I just CBA last night :o...Silly me!!

    Take care all.

    Morning Nmlc and all.

Youngest and hubby just gone to work. Hounds just been out. Too early to get up yet and the house is cold so I'm going to watch a bit of telly on my phone.

Not much to do today in the house but I've got my Grandson this afternoon as it's childcare day. I need to hide the vacuum cleaner nozzle as he uses it as a sword. Grandads box of tools as he likes to play with what's inside and the wok. The noise it makes when he whacks it with a wooden spoon goes through me.

My face is still swollen and sore but to be honest it's probably because I had to scrub my face to remove the yellow stain. I don't think I'll be in any rush to repeat the experience.

Lainey. Will be thinking of you today.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning All

Back to reality for me today, had a great time away and DS likes to pack in as much as possible. He went to work yesterday morning then got the metro back to Central Station to meet for a coffee before I left.

Journey back was good and my lovely neighbour picked me up from the airport, once I was sorted I went over to theirs for a curry, lovely end to a holiday weekend!

    Thinking of you today Lainey.
    Belated Happy Birthday JackieO.

    WM nearly finished, shower calling.

Have a good day. Take care. XX
  • Morning all.

Hugs to Lainey and and one else in need.

I'm at work and the machines are chugging away, mainly with cover work.

I took two DD's to dance class yesterday one enjoyed it the other wasn't sure.

Another property to view at the weekend if it's still available then.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

It was a cold night here and looks foggy outside. When I went to the loo around midnight I thought at first there was a helicopter up above :D

More TV drama with DM last night. Just when all was settled she emailed to say it wasn't working! I texted the engineer and the building company doing the repairs. To their credit both replied and she'll get another visit this morning. I'm wrung out and DM is frazzled.

This morning I'm teaching Academic Skills for two hours, I've sent the group so much stuff they must be drowning.

Lainey - mu thoughts are with you and your family today. It will be really tough all round and you'll all need each other.

Right, I should start my day.

    Happy Wednesday to all.
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Thinking of LAINEY today and I hope all goes well. Pleased you had a good w/e CAMELOT.

If Mr TA is feeling better today (I will cancel if not) then I am going to Skipton with my friend for a somewhat chilly browse of the market, numerous charity shops and wherever else catches our eye. I must not be tempted by any more books in the cs as my still-to-read box is getting bigger and bigger by the day. Then a late lunch and bottle of wine in the Red Lion before heading for the bus home.

The 2 youngest DGD's are here for tea, sleepover and tomorrow's school run when I get back. I have a pan of Bolognese on the go already to warm up for a quick tea. Just the spaghetti to do when they arrive. Nice 'n easy!

Have a good day folks and HUGS to the poorlies, sad and worried. Take care whatever you are up to xx

    Have good days all xx

Morning all, thanks for the thread nmlc x

Lainey - thinking of you today xx
    Judi - ouch!
Camelot - glad you enjoyed the w/e x
Mrs TA - hope MrTA is feeling better today x

I had a good nights sleep (sorry) and feel better today. Had DDs parents evening last night then spoke to DSis about mum. We had a good chat and one of the things she said was that I have high expectations of people and therefore I get let down when they don't meet them. I get what she's saying, but still maintain my family should've been there for my son, especially given what happened to nephew. I am undecided how long to leave it before contacting my mum. DSis once went 18months without any contact and they live in the same town.

Dinner was ruined last night by the boys putting the oven dish in to cook with the plastic lid on - numpties. We had take out pizza instead. SW carbonara tonight.

    Have a good day all,
