Hello all, firstly apologies if this is totally in the wrong place..
I am currently in dispute with a bank regarding a miss trace and them stating i owe a sum of money which I don't.. However they have asked for a copy of my credit file to see where the miss trace happened and I have absolutely no idea where to start with it or who to go with, I have Read through the post's about them but a bit overawed by it all..
And while I am at it how long does it take to have old address's etc taken off a credit file as been separated 3 years from the ex where I moved from the marital home which I still part own so no doubt there will be alsorts on it from over the period.
I figure if I am going to look at my credit file I may as well get it sorted .
Again apologies if wrong section of forum and thank you in advance of any help you can offer.
Thanks.

What exactly is a miss trace and how would forwarding a copy of your credit files to the bank help?
If money is missing from you bank account I can't see how providing them with a copy of your credit files (all 3 I assume) would assist them in tracing the missing funds.
Not sure about the address history. 6 years at the very least. Equifax are showing electoral roll entries back to 1984 on my report.0 -
I emailed Callcredit (Noddle) a while ago regarding a very old address appearing on my credit file - this was their reply:
"Thanks for your email. The reason this address is still on your credit report is because addresses remain on your credit report indefinitely.
Addresses don’t fall under the same data retention rules as financial accounts and therefore aren’t automatically removed from your report after six years.!An address link is valid and will remain on your credit file if:
•!You’ve lived at the address – even if you’ve since moved
•!You’ve used the address on a credit application – even if it was unsuccessful
•!You’ve used the address as a delivery address for a product
•!You’re financially associated with someone who linked to the address
•!You’re the landlord/lady of the given address
Just to reassure you, an address link will not have a negative impact upon the rating we give you although it may impact on your ability to obtain credit if you don’t declare it when asked to or if the linked address leads to negative information. "0 -

This is accurate. This address should not be of concern to you, it will not cause you any issues. Like noddle told you the only way it will cause you an issue is if you have negative information linked to this address. Nobody else's negative information will cause you any issues with this address on your file.
The only way some else's credit file can effect yours is if you are financially associated to them so you should look on your report under "financial associations" to see if you are financially associated to anyone.0 -

In other words, "we'll keep your address history for ever, because we can, so up yours!"
"You used the address as a delivery address...". So !!!!!! is all that about, then?0 -
I know GB - utterly bizarre.0

I think the burden of proof is on them to prove that you owe the money, not upon you to prove that you don't. Have you asked them to send you copies of the loan agreement? Showing them your credit file will serve no purpose whatsoever, they should have a full history of the loan and a paper trail going from the loan agreement being signed, to any payments/defaults etc. It looks to me as if they don't have any of this, so they are asking you to do their leg work for them. I'd write to them and ask them for proof that you've taken out this loan, including copies of the loan agreement as you know nothing about this.
I have an old address showing on my credit file and I moved out of the house in 2003. The main thing is, is that I don't have any CCJ's or defaults that I know nothing about.0 -
Firstly thank you all for the replies.
Appreciated.
The bank want to see my credit files to see where the miss trace happened initially happened - as this has been dragging on for 8 years now..yep 8 year's despite the bank telling me in writing in 2015 that the account in question and sum owed had nothing to do with myself.
Fast forward to now and again said bank and debt agency are once again pursuing me for the sum of money from said account I never owned.
So the banks asking for credit file's to clarify I have never lived at a specific to do with said account and sum of money.
I have already requested full statements of the account iin question and a copy of the signed agreement as my next step is a legal one.
But I would like to know which credit check is the best as I would personally like to tidy mines up as something I have never done.
Thank you in advance for any replies0 -
You'll need all 3. None of them are best - they are three separate companies with different data.0
-
OK thanks..
Which three? Experian , noddle, clear score?
Like mentioned I am genuinely unsure where to start.
Appreciate the help.0 -
I really don't believe that a bank themselves are chasing an 8 year old debt nor that a bank would have requested to see your credit files. Please don't be foolish enough to go sending your credit files to a DCA!0
