Hi,
Just a word of warning if you are looking for a phone number. Never phone 118118 and certainly do not ask them to connect you. I was charged £8.79 for a 1 minute 27 second local call! Daylight robbery and I have contacted Ofcom as people need to be warned of this rogue tactic!

They are a business and they have to make money.
The costs are clearly described on there own website, it is down to you to furnish yourself with the said information.

You're living in the past if you expect operator connection to be free or even low priced.

You can get free directory enquiry (from 118118) by calling 0800 118 3733.

The Service Charge for calling a 118 directory enquiries service can range anywhere from 40p per minute to as much as £15.98 per call plus £7.99 per minute (after 60 seconds).

The charges must be stated alongside the number, everywhere it is advertised or promoted. They can also be looked up at http://checkit.uboss.com/

The Access Charge set by the caller's phone provider (up to 12p per minute from landlines or up to 55p per minute from mobiles) is insignificant in comparison.

I ONCE asked for a phone number from 118118 following their ads (early days, years ago). They asked if I wanted them to put me through to the number, I said "How much would that cost?" They told me, I said (shock horror) no, and never used them again.

Even using a mobile's internet, you can find out numbers. Just as quick.

I too got a shock today when I looked at my phone bill. I never use 118118 but one day when I was out and desperate I did ring them for 00:01:28 and have been charged £7.80. I am with ID Mobile. I knew it was premium rate but I thought £1.50 or something that's ok (being desperate). Lesson learnt for me. Interestingly though on ID Mobile's list of premium numbers and charges it's not listed there at all.
