Does anyone use a dongle for internet access?

I was thinking of cancelling my internet package and just using a dongle attached to my laptop when I'm out and about. Has anyone got one as their only source of internet connection and also, anyone that has one, which is the best provider to go with?
Thanks in advance for any advice xx

I used a mifi (mobile wifi) unit for a while when I was waiting for broadband to be installed after moving. I used EE which had a pretty fast 4G signal.
It worked pretty well, but it ended up being quite expensive - you get through a lot of data with typical use these days.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Getting unlimited data on your phone and tethering to that usually works out cheaper than getting a standalone data package or at least on Three it does. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

The two best providers are Three and EE.
I've just seen on broadbandgenie, EE have an offer for 32GB data for £24 per month for 24 months then £29 per month after. I think that is the best deal.

As to whether it's a good option, it depends on your internet usage. If you use online catch-up services like iPlayer often then it's unlikely it will be enough because just watching a 60 minute programme uses about 700MB data.0 -
I rather expect that the motive for cancelling and using mobile broadband was to save money. Home ADSL can normally be had for less than that.I've just seen on broadbandgenie, EE have an offer for 32GB data for £24 per month for 24 months then £29 per month after. I think that is the best deal.
The only way that mobile broadband can compete on price with fixed line is if you are prepared to live with pretty low data caps.
I have both a mobile BB contract with EE and home broadband as I spend a lot of the summer months away from home. I don't stream or download anything on the mobile.0
