ladies - epilator or ladyshaver?

  • I have an epilator and as others have said it does hurt but it is bearable especially if it's just maintenance rather than trying to remove all of the hair at once. To avoid removing it all at once if I've been lazy and let it grow back I usually shave my legs and then epilate the next day to get the quickest growing hairs and go on that way doing it very couple of days as necessary. I find it especially good for the bikini line as shaving often leaves a rash anyway and epilating lasts much longer. Although it is difficult to get really smooth legs it is much harder to see the hairs growing back as they don't have blunt ends and they seems to appear at different rates rather than all at once. My epilator came with an exfoliating head to help with the ingrowing hair problem although I find you can get some ingrowing hairs with shaving anyway so it's not much different.

I've used an epilator on my legs for over 16 years now, although it hurt like hell at first now I dont feel a thing. I have used one on the bikini line a few times and found it very painful, but would like to try once more, as I hate shaving as it gives me an awful rash. I need a new epilator, so am looking to invest in one that will do my bikini line too, can anyone recomend one that is any good for the bikini line please?? I'm willing to persevere with the pain, as long as its the right shape and size for this area, as it can get awkward to do it myself.

  • I love my epilator (bought recently) - I've got the one with an "ice" attachment but don't bother using it (I'm hard, me). Not a pleasant experience, but thankfully not one you have to go through very often.

If you want a nicer way to get hair-free, I recently tried the Veet cream that you spread on and then scrape off after 3 minutes... no pain (obviously), no razors (risk of shaving your ankle bone off), and it really moisturises your skin.

Results really are very smooth and silky, with no hairs missed out - better and easier than the closest shave. Doesn't last as long as epilations, of course.

  • I got an epilator off ebay and just love, highly recommended.

The first time I did it, it really HURT. After a few weeks I tried it on my underarms and the pain was unbearable, vowed never to try it there again. However, after some perserverance I now use it regularly with no probs.

It still hurts but it is totally bearable. I do it after a bath when the skin is all soft, and put a video on whilst I'm doing it to distract myself.

Legs are never totally smooth as there are always tiny new hairs the epilator can't grab. But my epilator gives the most amazing result on underarms. Shaving and creams always left tiny stubble that I could feel, the epilator leaves it completley hair-free, completely smooth.

I sometime get a few spots of blood under the arms but don't be scared!
