Clamshell/flip mobiles - need some recommendations please

Options
My wife is on the hunt for a flip top/clamshell mobile phone. It doesn't need to be all singing, all dancing (so no smartphone capabilities) but it must have a built-in camera and needs to be simple to transfer any photos to the PC.

It also must have great reception (I live in an area with a weak signal).

Must be unlocked and capable of using the Orange/EE network.

Must also be pretty robust.

Any thoughts please?

One that I was thinking of is the Samsung C3590:

(I have a Samsung E1270 which has been great and the 3590 seems to be roughly the same but with a camera and slightly larger screen).

Price? Less than £100, but the cheaper the better as long as the quality is very good. Preferably from a reputable and well recognised company.

And that's likely to be your problem, it's a 4 year old discontinued model, eBay is probably your best bet.

I'm not saying that I definitely want the 3590, I'm just wondering if there is anything better (or similar) but perhaps cheaper and newer. :)

Must also be new, not keen on second hand.

This one has such a rubbish camera I'm not sure it's worth admitting it has one! I gave up looking for which network, sorry.

Your post reminded me of a clamshell phone I had years ago, I loved it and now think all my phones should have covers to protect the screen lol

I hope you find what you're looking for :)
  • Thanks, I'll take a look.
  • That link is to an obsolete Lenovo phone that only has 2G and two frequency bands which will limit coverage, won't work on the Three network and may not work in some overseas countries. While it probably will work on O2 and Vodafone to some extent, you are wasting your money on this dinosaur.

I'm not sure why a flip phone is important, you can put a small touch screen phone in a leather case that resembles a pocket diary.
