Recent sky broadband offer

Hello

I took advantage of January's offer for Sky Fibre Unlimited for £18.40 per month (includes line rental). I was fed up with BT who I've been with forever and who were charging me a high amount.

I read everything carefully, requested the Martin's Money code and contacted Sky. I was pleased to see mentioned that the £5 ccard cost was to be returned for MME customers and also the impending hike in line rental would not affect subscribers to this 18month contract.

Sky took initial payment of £50 and £5 - setup fee. They also charged £9.95 for router box. The offer set out that a set up fee of £59.95 would be charged.

I have now received a bill laid out in a confusing way. and will ring Sky to clarify

Along with a new bill I've received notification that the line rental will be going up in March by
£1.59.

I've tried to find the original thread that set out the details but can't see anything.

Has anyone else take advantage of this offer? Do you know where I can view the original details?

UPDATE: Spoke to Sky. They have refunded the £5 charge on the bill but its not obvious on the bill without explanation. Discussed the increase to line rental. They confirmed that although the line rental is increasing, people on this offer have a fixed line rental for the offer period. This will be shown on the future bills by an increase in the discount applied to the line rental. E.g. if the line rental discount was £10 the new line rental discount will be £11.59. The result will be that the amount payable will not increase.

  • Hello,

I was offered this/similar deal from a lovely Scottish Sky rep, called Dale, and I am an existing customer.

Spoke earlier today about leaving and ended up saving at least £15-20 a month and that included a part refund for this months payment of over £30.

Anyone thinking of moving from SKY, hold back until you have rang them. There was no hard sell, I got more than what I expected because I was recognised as being a loyal customer.

    Thank you Sky (Dale).

I've spoken to them and been on live chat to no avail. I'm on ADSL at the moment and the best they'd offer was £30 for UL Fibre plus £9.95 delivery which sounds okay but I want to decrease my costs not pay another £11 a month over the £18.99 when 18.5Mbps is fine for us.

I've sent a letter to Edinburgh to see if I can move them otherwise I'm looking at paying £23 odd for Virgins 50Mbps plus weekend calls.

While I'm waiting I might consider live chat again but the last one lasted an hour and 37 minutes.

They don't do loyal customers. Those who are disloyal get better offers .

I got an excellent tv offer and the person who signed me up commented on what a good offer and all because I'd been a customer for some time. Nonsense; it was because I'd already moved phone and broadband and had let tv be switched off.

Unlike over 12 months ago, have been quite mean with offers for those thinking of leaving (since just before the combined price date) resulting in some of us going elsewhere.

18.5 sounds like heaven. Do you live next door to the exchange ?:p

Ha, near enough. 500m in a straight line, I've got a junction box outside the gates as well, Sky ran a line test and if I did go fibre then I'd get maximum out of that too. I dread ever having to leave :(
  • Anyone else had a similar issue?

On January 18th I followed a link from this website to a fantastic Sky Broadband offer - "Sky Broadband Unlimited, line rental and Pay as you Talk for £12 p/m for 12 months with a one off £9.95 set up fee."

I was emailed a unique code and signed up the same day.

I was asked to pay a £5 refundable activation fee and an additional £20 fee to change providers but I still felt it was a very good deal.

Problem is that now the account has been opened I'm being charged £17.40 and I've been told that this charge is soon to increase by £1.45.

Two issues: One, Sky need to correct the price of my bill to £12 per month and two, given the deal I signed up for made it clear the price would be £12 per month for 12 months surely they should not be asking me to pay an increase within 3 weeks of signing up for this new deal.

It just seems like Sky have used a bit of a dirty trick to hook in new customers with a very cheap offer only to start backing away from the deal once signed up.

I'm a tad annoyed to be honest. Has anyone else had the same experience recently?

They can put the price up as the guarantee is only a fixed discount (usually a percentage).

Have you called them about the incorrect charge ? It's free to call and easier (quicker) to speak to someone than using 'chat' ?
