Taking currency to South Africa

We are going to South Africa in April and would like to know what is the best way of taking SA rand, last time (2011) we took travellers cheques. We would like to know if it would be better/cheaper to load a card, draw at an ATM or again take travellers cheques.
Any help would be appreciated thanks Pete & Pam

Suitable 'travel' cards are best value, travelers cheques are history.

If you think it's worth getting a 'Travel credit card' (smartphone not required and higher ATM limits):

Take at least two different cards, in case of loss, failure, etc.Evolution, not revolution0
