Ping chopped/sliced onion with tbsp. of water in microwave for 2 mins to soften. Fries up much more quickly for so many dishes that have onion base for sauces and needs less oil.

Just tried this....wow! Who knew? Thanks:beer:

I use a handful of soda crystals and a handful of washing powder together when I put the washing on ,along with the white vinegar my clothes are soft and the whites are great They usually only really need a freshen up wash anyway as I am a retired old woman who se clothes don't get very mucky :):):) Only really need to use half the amount of powder and soda crystals are quite cheap to buy and last for ages Not the branded Calgon stuff though that's supposed to keep your washing machines working, just ordinary washing soda from a pound shop or Boots etc

  • I stopped using fabric conditioner ages ago after someone else on here said they too had stopped using and can honestly say I've never noticed a difference without it, although guess it depends on how hard your water is.

The cutting in half of dishwasher tablets. Does it still clean as well as if you use a whole one? Cos if it does, I will start doing this one as they are expensive.

Certainly do. However you can't cut the ball ones in half. I just use lidls basics

I cut the ball ones in half ;) I leave dishwasher tabs in the plastic, get a knife and lay it across, and hit the knife with a rolling pin - you get quite a clean break!

I got a tip off here to put a bit of vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher to stop everything going cloudy.
