Hi there,

I am looking to recycle my old (working) Samsumg S4 for cash. I had a look on a few comparison websites and they cite fonehub and musicmagpie and mobile cash mate as being the nighest payers of around £70 which sounds great.

However, having looked at reviews of these companies there's nothing but complaints from people saying their phones have went missing and they received no money.

Does anyone have any high paying companies they can recommend as I don't want to end up with nothing.

Thanks!

  • I have always used mazuma, not the top quotes but not the worst either but 100% satisfaction.

If the phone's condition is declared correctly, you receive what they quote and when they say. Just DON'T USE FONEHUB, I did once and it was nothing but grief, 1st they devalue the phone then you have to chase & chase for payment. They say 48hrs,it took me 4 working days and many phone calls to finally get my money. Be warned, use fonehub at your peril. If you want more info, Google search review for fonehub Ltd, the majority are very very poor with only a handful of good reviews.

If you don't mind an Apple voucher, as opposed to cash, you can trade in non Apple devices: https://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/trade-up/

Last year we visited an Apple Store and traded in a couple of iPhones for a similar price to the "sold" prices on eBay, with no hassle or difficulty.

I don't know if you can take non Apple devices to an Apple Store, or if they only accept them by post. The above link has the info on the scheme.
  • From what I understand the rates change throughout the month, so comparison sites often show what the recyclers are offering when you search. I have a friend at comparemymobile.com and he says all three you mentioned are ok to go with...every site in that industry struggles with reviews, in part because people tend only to leave reviews when they're disgruntled.

    Cheers

    the apple link states
Now it’s even easier to switch to iPhone1. Trade in your eligible Android smartphone at an Apple Store and get an extra £50 credit. Trade-in values range from £50 to £230.
