can i claim compensation

Hi

I was recently flying from Glasgow to Las Vegas on United Airlines with a connecting flight from Newark to Las Vegas . My flight from Newark to Las Vegas was delayed by 6 hours & then cancelled . I eventually arrived in Vegas a day later than scheduled . Would I be eligible for the delay as due to the connecting flight not in the EU ?

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this .
L

There have been court success when the flight leaving the EU was delayed under 3 hours and connection missed even though initially rejected by the airline but I think you would have a difficult case when the delay was fully outside the EU on a non-EU airline. The NWNF firms will not touch these so you have to read the regulations and decide whether you want to take your case to court. (obviously if the delay/cancellation was due to weather/ATC etc there is no possible claim anyway)
  • Thanks Caz
  • Exactly the same thing happened to me last year. I've called the airline and they presented me with the options. Didn't even try to get away with it. Just needed to do some paper work and got my money back.
