Good morning
Karcher thank you for the thread.
TA I am glad I started that salad thread, lots of ideas are being posted. I need to put a few seeds and lentils in soak today for sprouts.
Yesterday evening I did the silliest thing, and not very OS at all. Went to shopping in sainsbugs and did not look at the voucher date, it was £5 off £50. As I needed to shop for next week's soup and homeless breakfast I thought I could easily reach that. As it happens I had to buy some cat food, which I needed anyway, to reach the £50. When all was totted up at the till and packed in bags, the cashier told me that I could not use the voucher until tomorrow (today). I just could not face undoing the packing and having to give the staff all the food to put back. Also knowing that some of it might be thrown away because out of fridge and freezer for a while. So I sucked it up, paid the 50 quid and went home. Concerned that I am really losing beats! I used to be really sharp and on the ball, but I am finding myself more and more forgetting things, getting dates confused, I put it down to stress but starting getting worried too.
Today:
Breakfast of egg and crumpet, then church then no plans, probably visit a friend who called me yesterday, she is elderly and I haven't seen her for a while so I will pop in.
Maybe cinema if anything worth watching anywhere.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Gers my favourite laugh of the week is the News Quiz I record it on my TiVo box and replay it when I am sitting knitting, Just about to start listening to the Archers omnibus while waiting for my DGS Danny and his wife to arrive.
Caterina try not to stress too much you have a lot of worry at the moment, and we all have 'senior' moments at times.Have you thought about so Yoga to relieve your stress a bit

Good morning everyone,
A very lazy day planned here.No DGC here today and we had a late night as we had our night out in Manchester. We got to the station to be told the train had been cancelled so had to wait 40 mins for the next.Needless to say it was jammed.By the time we got there the place we wanted to eat had a wait time of 1 1/2 hours so we went somewhere else as we were all hungry. Then a couple of pubs and on to a gig Godson and his bandmates were doing, which went really well.We got a prebooked taxi back with his Mum & Dad,not too bad between the 4 of us and we dont do it very often.Sometimes feel our age in these places but you can usually spot other parents along to support, and they do have quite a range of followers anyway .
DH called at a nice butchers yesterday and got some meat patty things for tea later, you just bung them in the oven so thats nice and easy for me.He also went to the sm ,got loads of puddings for himself but none of the Greek yogurt I eat everyday for breakfast!I need washing liquid too so may have a quick visit but thats all.
Hope you all have a good day.Hugs Lainey.

Could you freeze the pizza?
Family are coming over today so brisket is in the oven, potatoes are par boiled ready to roast, veg just needs trimming for later and batter for yorkies is in the fridge.
Just about to get dressed, put electric heater on in conservatory, tidy kitchen and do a quick waltz with the hoover and duster.
Meat delivery due on Tuesday and a boiler service as it has started to make whirring and clunking noises

Well the washing didn't dry much yesterday but the sun "took the sting out of it" as my nan would say, so finished it off indoors.
Not much on today as Dad is coming for the day although DH has run the hoover round and I've prepped the veg. Lunch will be a roast but with the meat substituted by a steak pie.
Must be the day for noisy boilers as ours woke me up sounding like Concorde taking off! I was so startled that I leapt out of bed and I've a headache now. DH hadn't heard it because he was on the laptop with his headphones on. It only wanted turning off and back on but I think the pump will want replacing in the summer:(
Have a good day all

Caterina, I read somewhere that if you are worried that you are developing something like Alzheimers then you aren't. I find recalling names is becoming more of a problem to me which is very annoying. Without being boastful I have a mind stuffed with trivia that I've always been able to recall very quickly. I lost count of the number of pople who told me they'd make me their friend if they ever got on Who wants to be a millionaire. So now if I struggle to recall a name I start to worry that I'm on the slippery slope.
Lainey, hugs, it's been a long wait hasn't it.
Not a lot to report here again, I didn't poke my nose out of the door yesterday and may not today either although I'm going a bit crazy with it.0 -
I'm another worried about myself!! I never had a problem remembering names until this last year or so and now I look at faces and think to myself "I know their name so why won't it come to me?" and convince myself it's the onset of dementia! When I worked I remember one of the doctors telling me that a sign they looked for was mucky spec lenses! Apparently if you have dementia you don't think to clean your glasses!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

TA
By the state of my glasses I must be a geniustrouble is that with cataracts developing I am not sure if it is my glasses that need cleaning or my eyes!!!
Yorkies are in the oven now, brisket and roasties are in a cooling oven and green veg are cooking. Hoovered and mopped and swiped and cream crackered now.
Family are due 12. 30 and table is laid so sitting down for a minute.
Having four dds it takes me a second or two to get the right name as I can be looking at one and discussing another.
Considering a memory test online but think it is more that I lose focus and "tip of the tongue "syndrome. I have never been good at faces and have a mind crammed with trivia
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

I made it home in one piece. There's really horrible weather in Glasgow but when I got over the Rest the sun was out all the remainder of the way and it was glorious. I think there's heavy rain forecast for here tomorrow though.
I've filled the bird feeders up and the log basket too. My bag is unpacked, washing in the machine and a cup of tea made. One of my neighbours has been in whilst I was in Glasgow to update his Mac - he's on satellite broadband which is very expensive and metered so the updates would eat it all up for the month. My broadband is unlimited though very slow (1.9mb on a good day) so I am happy for him to do his Mac here.
DM is happy and warm and toddling around the house. She's a bit unsteady when outside so we discussed getting her a walking stick. Of course, she feels a lot less than her rising 89 years in her head even though her legs are being a bit more realistic. We agreed on getting a folding stick so she's not lumbered with it on the bus or in shops so I'll have a look online.
JackieO - I enjoy the News Quiz a lot. Andy Hamilton and Jeremy Hardy are so good on it, as is Susan Calman and Danny Finkelstein too. I just wish I could hear one episode all the way through! They are on my iPad as podcasts.
Camelot - glad you're having a good time.
To everyone I wish a restful afternoon.0 -

I have to double-check absolutely everything these days; and anything that needs to be remembered goes on the kitchen calendar and also in my PDA, with an alarm set so that it will squeak at me at the appropriate time.TravellingAbuela wrote: »I'm another worried about myself!! I can't do faces at all; never have been able to. But it transpires I have mild prosopagnosia. The most embarrassing event due to this, at least of recent times, was when I completely blanked Mr LW's best pal - the chap we have round here when we have a dog staying, to get his "dog fix" - because I simply didn't recognise him. Problem is, I see two eyes, a nose and a mouth, but no other real detail; I have to make a conscious effort to remember something significant about a person, other than their face. And if someone changes their hairstyle, I have zero chance of recognising them next time I see them!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
