eBay - Messaged with offer for cash on collection

I have an item listed on eBay with courier delivery. A buyer has messaged asking if they can collect the item and pay cash on collection. My questions are:
Sean
- Is there any reason why I should not accept this if I am happy with their offer?
- How do I handle this in eBay? I can adjust my Buy It Now price to their offered price, but will the buyer be forced to pay via PayPal if using this?

I'd take it off sale saving your final value fees so long as buyer agrees it's cash only on collection.0

You need to be clear, your title says on collection, your post read on delivery, which is it?? as to me there is a big difference
I would go for cash on collection, that way you have your money before they drive off.
If it is cash on delivery, you load the item, they drive off, they say it never arrived, you have no money or item!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

1, Reason not to. Your MAD? Cash in your hand buyers inspected the goods and happy to pay. No paypal fees..Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Take the cash with a smile :-)0

The only time I would ever consider COD would be for large bulky items. It is so much easier just to send an item than wait for someone to call round with cash, and I'm not at all keen on the idea of having to deal directly with buyers.0

Cash on collection is better for you as it saves you paying the Paypal fees.
The issue is if the buyer doesn't turn up so I would advise leaving the auction online until you physically have the cash. Also don't let them bargain you down when they meet you.0 -
Thanks all for the advice. The transaction went very smoothly with cash in hand

As per my recent thread, I got a warning for this recently which is sitting somewhere on my account.
I had a buyer contact me and say they were basically on their way and could they collect my item and pay cash- my listing was BIN with immediate payment required so they couldn't buy in advance. They arrived , paid cash and I cancelled the BIN listing and got a warning for selling outside of ebay a few days later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If this was to happen you take the risk of that buyer raising a dispute and leaving neg feedback for you.0
