  • I was just wondering if anyone would know if him becoming a drug addict whilst being moved around the different sheltered accommodations that Croydon Council have placed him in over the years would give us any grounds to request 24 hour care? Or at least something preferable to these halfway houses and hostels.

I know 10 years+ ago after he was sectioned and fell under the councils care he got placed in various halfway houses & hostels and was relatively normal when medicated, he definitely wasn't on hard drugs or associating with criminals, drug dealers and those who would take advantage of him being so vulnerable and weak minded.

Would I be able to push for him to live in some kind of 24/7 care home due to this where he would at least be looked after which quite clearly he is unable to do.

It must be so worrying for you all, I work in elderly mental health so only know that side of things,it does seem like for young adults care after discharge is failing. My work mate has been through a similar thing with her son, he was sectioned, he has schizophrenia, on discharge he was placed in the wrong type of assisted housing, he too wouldnt take meds, missed his depot, kept turning up at her house drunk smashing windows causing trouble with the neighbours, her and her husband are at breaking point, she feels guilty because of the good after care our patients get yet none for her own son. Go to his GP , ask for his CPN to be involved, explain about him missing his depot , and I truly hope it turns out okay.
