Are there representives from DWP on here?

Hi
I doubt there would be a representive from Department of Work and Pensions, but would hope there is someone who could answer my question?
I am getting Jobseekers, would it be possible to switch to Universal Credit without having to wait for Jobcentre Plus to send me a letter saying its time to go to UC?

Only if you fit the criteria and its rolled out in your area.
Be warned though as you may be better off on JSA. (but you didn't hear that from me)0 -

Why do you say that? On UC it seems you earn more. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Just a recent case I heard where they wanted to swap someone back to JSA and HB as didn't get as much benefit with UC as they did before.0

Tomtom, who replied to this thread, has in the past claimed he works for the DWP. But on sites such as this it may well not be true.0

More will lose out than gain when moved ('migrated to' in the DWP jargon) from JSA to UC. But UC is more beneficial and convenient for some groups including those in and out of short-term work and the self-employed. This is because a JSA claim closes when someone starts work whereas a UC claim does not. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0

It sounds to me they have made the system more complicated than it is. My brother recieved a letter yesterday and he is receiving the standard rate of £251.77.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Yes the system is more complicated and has more than a few issues.
I would offer more advice, but alas, I don't won't be branded a liar.0 -

I don't see you as a liar, your advice is unconditional and I believe you.
I will stick to Jobseekers, until I unceremonial get kicked off and 'migrated to' Universal Credit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Something of a generality, but it's rare for one benefit to be replaced by another which pays more. I never worked on UC, but did read plenty about it. There were definitely changes made to it when it did seem that quite a lot of people would be better off on UC than other benefits.
There is certainly no official representation of DWP on the board, but there are a number of both current and past employees.0
