Vodafone SIM only deals ending 15th March?

While I appreciate Vodafone have their faults, their £20 and £25 12 month SIM only deals on offer at the moment look interesting. Your thoughts on how Vodafone really perform would be appreciated.
I am currently with Three on their 30 GB, 600 mins (2000 3 to 3 mins), unlimited texts and UK tethering up to 30 GB. It includes EU and a few other countries via "feel at home", but not inclusive local calls when roaming. I am paying £25 a month on a 12 month deal that ends 3rd April.
The Vodafone SIM only for the same price offers more, or on the face of it they offer more:
£25/month gives 25 GB of data (4 GB EU roaming), unlimited minutes and texts, including unlimited EU roaming and unlimited calls to other EU numbers while roaming in the EU. There is an entertainment package included that I don't need or want. They also don't seem to offer any kind of spending limit.
Is there a catch, other than the many complaints I see on here? I travel to Spain a lot, so EU roaming is quite important. I know EU roaming is being mandated from June, but with what restrictions?

I have seen that they will apply an rpi increase in April not sure how much that is likely to be? Mentions this on their website under what you need to know.0
-
At the moment (assuming I've looked at the right figures) RPI is currently 1.6%.
This is going on EE's calculator from June 2016 but back then a £20/month tariff would increase to £20.26.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
The retail prices index is rising, the figure could be as high as 3%, which isn't the end of the world.
I need to get a Vodafone PAYG SIM and try a few locations, their coverage here in East Yorkshire looks worse than 3 in a few places. There is no point moving if the coverage isn't there at locations we regularly visit.
Still even with a price increase of, maybe 3%, for some the extras look tempting.0 -
Must admit that the Vodafone service is good....I'm within the london M25 so coverage isn't really gonna be a problem for me....calls are clear and connect first time.
Data speed is good....above 10mbps, so whatsapp calls...and FB video are ok.
So on that basis all is good....where Vodafone fall down is in there customer care, if you have any problems then it's a constant battle to get it corrected and even acknowledged. Trust me I've been there
If you were to join Vodafone I'd keep a very stringent eye in your billing and any issues get onto the web chat straight away and report it and therefore you can keep a copy of the chat.
I've taken the option of cancelling my direct debit with them and when the bill appears online just check it and then pay via a credit card....perhaps I'm being over cautious but Vodafone can be a pain to deal with.
Good luck0 -
My main mobile service is on Three, and their biggest strenght is the unlimited data. Speeds are reasonable, except in congested areas. Network coverage is not as good as other providers. The Feel at home, on paper, is also excelent, but on various trips abroad, the reality is that the internet is almost unusable. So, i am also planning to move come next renewal in april.
Vodafone looks like a good preposition. I have a second contract with vodafone, used by my partner, and network coverage is way better - she has network in places i dont -, and 4g speeds also decent. I havent tried it abroad for data, but depending on the package, you can have up to 4gb of data in Europe. Costumer service wise i had no problems, but never had need to contact them, as you can deal with most stuff on their website.
As an existing Vodafone costumer i can get a second simcard at a discount, and 20gb of data will be more than enough for me. If you are new to Vodafone you can get cashback from sites like topcashback (currently £40/60).
Personally, i cant imagine Vodafone to be worse than Three on costumer service. Three has good ratings mostly because they were the first to offer free roaming, but even free it is no good to me because the internet access abroad is attrocious.0 -
I got a Vodafone PAYG SIM and had to pay £10 for a top up.
What a palaver to get a Voda PAYG SIM to work with data in an iPhone, the default wap setting had to be edited to "pp", then it only gave 3G, so had to download a profile via a text message link. By comparison, you insert a Three SIM and it "just works", and that was into a new non locked iPhone SE straight out of the box. Wake up Vodafone you are supposed to be on 4G these days, not 2G/Edge!
The coverage in the places in East Yorkshire we regularly visit had either no coverage (North Cave, about a mile from the M62) and patchy/unusable coverage in South Cave. In a good coverage area I had dropped calls a few times too. By comparison, Three works fine in both locations.
So it was an interesting exercise, wasted £10, but it could have been worse if I had gone to Vodafone on a contract...0 -

Says it all really.
I received a courtesy call from Vodafone back in October . They couldn't rip me off too much for being ,one of their most loyal customers. I received a sim ,as I wanted a sim only deal.
However, if I put the sim into the iPhone , I would've had a new phone no. Which is not what I asked for.
Oh, and despite my iPhone 5 24 hour contract expiring in Feb,live chat told me : upgrade may/ contract end July .
They have got worse over the years0
