what type of latch indoor door handle is this ?

[IMG][/img] anyone know what type of door handle this is and how to remove ? info : old full-size cupboard door handles on both sides (can't remove either) it's not : 1 the modern grub screw spindle type 2. the normal 'spindle falls out' type seems to be a sprung type. maybe held in place by a lock slot thing ?

the faceplate came away quite easy when the wood screws were taken out.
but the other faceplate stayed on when unscrewed. it spins with the handle now.
so not sure if this is to do with a circlip on that side
