what type of latch indoor door handle is this ?

[IMG][/img]vrsfhz.jpg

anyone know what type of door handle this is and how to remove ?
info :
old full-size cupboard door
handles on both sides (can't remove either)

it's not :
1 the modern grub screw spindle type
2. the normal 'spindle falls out' type

seems to be a sprung type. maybe held in place by a lock slot thing ?

The handles may have a screw thread on it and so the other one unscrews from the other . Try lifting one handle and dropping the other and see if they unscrew from each other.

    i think you are right.
no luck yet, but it's a good bet.

does this mean i won't be able to fit a 'normal' type of spindle handle ?

If you look carefully, it looks as if there is a 'key' of some sort at the part of the handle nearest the door. The thin bit that's a different colour on the edge. That might pry out, lift, or move somehow.
    Haven't seen that type though.

at the moment i have both handles spinning round fully in unison.

yes there does seem to be some sort of catch on that side.
atm im trying to unscrew what looks like a bolt on that side but cant find a spanner to fit the tight space.
the other side has the face plate connection still connected (but unscrewed from wood)
but i cant seem to detach it although it spins round with the handle.

Is that not a circlip between the handle and the door?

Once you get them off you should be able to fit a modern pair of lever handles.

Looks like the circlip thats been left after the lever handle faceplate has been unscrewed/ripped off..

If all else fails the spindle can be hacksawed through.

    thanks everyone.
i think it is a circlip.
not sure if it keeps the 'decorative handle' on, or keeps the nut in place.
probably the saw will be used.
    cheers
