Oh right i dunno what counselling i am in line for, doubt it is that though if the waiting list is so long, where do you get it privately?
I think the waiting list depends on how much demand there is for the service in your area.
The best thing to do is check out with your GP what type of counselling / therapy they have referred you to and they should also be able to give you an approximate waiting time.
To look in to privately it's probably best to stick "Cognitive Behavioural Therapy" and your area into a search engine and it should bring up places which offer this to you.
Prices range for where it is and who's doing it. I know some trainee therapists / psychologists will do it for approx £30 an hour but this can range to £100 for fully qualified therapists.
I know someone who is currently attending CBT privately and paying £60 an hour.
Check with you GP first though as that is more :money: !!:D0 -
Perhaps you could ask at your gp's if they have any leaflets on self- help groups - I know where I came from there were User Support Groups, A group for young peope with mental health problems, a hearing voices group, etc. Perhaps your local Mind might be able to help. There's also a health forum on here - there's the bbc site which might give you some info. Also I found coping with depresion to be a really good book - easy to read by Philip J Barker I think it was and also Manage your mind published by mind- maybe your library can get you a copy. Just remember to celebrate each and every step along the way -having depression is a bit like getting fed uo because you're not clearing your debt fast enough rather than giving yourself credit for the debt you have cleared - if you see what I mean -Imoral Angels diary is a great example of this/also ehallet - they don't sit around feeling sorry for themselves- they try and focus on the positives.
P.S I am not implying that you are sitting around feeling sorry for yourself I kow how hard depression is.Making my money go further with MSE :j

Hi carlih
Yes, your HB & CTB should increase but you need to let the council know ASAP about your change in circumstances so your benefit can be ammended.
Dont worry about your debts too much at the mo~send them a current SOA or Inc/Exp and a £1 token payment. If it does go to court you cannot pay what you havent got & you get time to pay.
Take care

Need to sort out my supermarket spending as i am sure i go in there and buy things for the sake of it!! Was thinking of selling my car and buying a cheaper one to release funds but am in dispute (still) with the company that sold me the car as they haven't given me the history yet!! Never buy from Dagenham Motors! Going to do a spending diary as from yesterday, i know i spent about £20 yesterday, i bought three films as we couldn't go to the cinema as nothing was on for dd and some snacks, very bad of me but dd has been excellant and it was a treat, so that is my first day £20 spend! Maybe i should work out how much i have each day to spend and see where it gets me, could include the food money in that?
Going to go onto old style and see how long i can live from food in my cupboards!0 -
Hi all,
Don't know if anyone is actually reading this,
I am having a bad time though, i called my bank last week who said they would call me friday to discuss which dd's went ut of my bank i told the woman opn the phone that my rent would be reduced so i didn't want that or hte council tax coming out but she didn't do anything about it, now my orange bill hasn't been paid and the council has, i really don't want to get behind with my bills and i rung them up but all they could do was apologise, now my tc's will go in on friday and i won't get any money transferred because it will all be held back for bills
Hope your all having a good day though

Hi,
I don't have any advice for you in your current situation I'm afraid but just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear you are having a horrible time at the minute and I hope things get better for you soon.
Hopefully when your rent and council tax situation is sorted you'll be a bit more comfortable and feel a bit more in control.:D
Loads of (((((((((hugs)))))))))
