My doctor has given me anti depressants and is sending me for counselling, i have no idea how long the wait is though. What are local, or internet self help groups?quote]
Just to chip in on this - I work as a mental health nurse and know that counselling can take some weeks (sometimes months depending on demand for services) but can be very effective, especially, CBT work.
I know some people who have found it very helpful to log into sites such as www.ivillage.co.uk which have message boards on 'coping with depression' where people in the same situation can discuss this with each other and give each other support.
If you have been feeling lonely recently (hugs) you may find this comforting too.
I know how debilitating depression can be so wish you a very speedy recovery!
Have been on ivillage once, thanks for the suggestion.
It is hard waiting for something that you need in ordser to get your life back, what is cbt? x0 -

Sorry - so used to using abbreviations!
It's cognitive behavioural therapy and focuses on changing your thinking and gives you tools to use to change these. It's really effective with a good success rate - you continue to use the tools long after the therapy ends too.
The problem with it is if you don't pay for it privately (which is not very MSE!) you do have to wait some time for it.0 -

Oh right i dunno what counselling i am in line for, doubt it is that though if the waiting list is so long, where do you get it privately?0 -
Free to Air card will give you all the Free channels- such as ITV2 and 3, all BBC channels, all radio services. As Freeview becomes more popular, Sky wil have to add more channels to to compete. I don't think that you can have sky plus alongside it though... but on that note I thought Sky plus was now free each month as long as you had the box?Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

Hi!
I've just finished a Cognitive Behaviour Course and found it really helpful. Mainly because it taught me to recognise the symptoms and gave me the tools to stop them.
I was referred by my doctor at the end of July and the course started on 21st August, so hopefully you wont have to wait to long.Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -

The £10 per month charge for sky plus was discontinued on July 1st 2007 for subscribers, but for those people who use Freesat (the Free to Air) the charge will still be £10 per month.
I talk lots about Sky on here because I am quite familiar with their offers and deals, and I know that they NEVER advertise them if they can get away with it! Basically, you're paying them £10 per month, but no way would they contact you and tell you that you didn't need to any more!Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

Shall i call them up and ask for a refund then?0 -
I would! All of there call agents will know that the service was made free back in July so they should give you a refund... but be prepared to be VERY persistent to actually recieve it
Your choice is either stay on your current deal (as long as you've had it for more than a year) and save £10 per month for your plus, or get Free to Air and pay just £10 per month for the plus only.
Sky are notorious for bad customer service tho- so like I said- persistence is the key!Don't suffer alone - if you are experiencing Domestic Abuse contact the National Domestic Abuse Helplines

Called sky and they told me that the £10 per month has been deducted from my account for the last three months, i also changed my package on there to an £18 per month one. And got Sky talk which gives me free evening and weekend calls without changing my number!0
