Within Nationwide but that's the help desk department the guy in branch had to ring to find out what an SID rejection meant.

    SID is 'Special Investigations Department'.

Applications get referred to them for fraud vetting/investigation where data from credit file mismatches with data provided on the application or if there are inconsistencies between recent applications or if National SIRA/CIFAS (fraud prevention databases) has referred the application. Did you not receive a letter from them?
  • This all happen in the last 36/48 hours so I am a head of the postal service. As I hadn't got the confirmation email with my reference number so I called up. They weren't that helpful on the phone so and told me to go to branch. Which is where I found out about a SID rejection. that is when they rang the helpdesk fraud team or whoever it is, and they told him its about an address and an undisclosed amount of money debt against it. But couldn't tell me or the branch anything further.

I have checked my credit file, but I'll take another look in the GAINS section that was mentioned above.
  • I don't earn very much money but I am lucky that I love my job so I am very lucky. I make sure I live within my means, I have no credit cards or loans, I rent, I wish I could afford to buy a home but that is a while off. So I was happy that the credit check went through ok.

This account is to become my rainy day fund, as at present I do a pot and put what I can into each week/month. But I wanted to have it in a bank account instead of in a pot.

You can appeal it if you think the decision is wrong although they don't tell you that.
