Parking ticket while I visited Matalan car park in Leicester

Hi I am new on here I hope you guys can help me here I visited Matalan a few weeks ago now to collect my online order I went in for 10mins while I was parked outside the store thinking it's Matalan parking little did I know it's a smart parking car park in partenership with Matalan ! :s a week or so later I recive a ticket in the post and I have appealed against the ticket stating I do not intend to pay and that I didn't realise It was pay and display and thought it was free Matalan customer parking as Matalan is in the car park ... and attached a copy of the receipt Of the order I went to collect , now I have recived a letter stating

'Having considered your appeal in details we have decided to uphold the PCN as we believe that it was correctly issued in accordance with the terms and condition advertised within the area concerned. As your appeal was received within the initial period we have extended the discount period until 15/02/17.
We acknowledge the document attached and we note the comments in you appeal in regards to the day of the contravention however we cannot rescind the PCN On this basis'

Now they asked me to pay or appeal to POPLA

WHAT TO DO GUYS? little bit worried and not sure what to write in POPLA appeal ....

Please if people can shed some light thank you all :);):o:beer:

    In the meantime it might be worth talking to Matalan to see if they can cancel the ticket, show them the receipt and PCN. You never know and not wasted effort.

    But if not POPLA appeal it is.
  • I have asked the customer service at store and online and they say they have nothing to do with it and it's smart parking decision and I should speak to them I said I would like to complain about this so they gave me a email address and I have emailed them .... which template to use for POPLA? And where can I find this

    go to the NEWBIES sticky thread , read post #3 and check the examples listed

    you can also use the forum search box and add search words like SMART PARKING POPLA and read and plagiarise any popla appeal made in the last 8 months or so (only from 2016 or 2017 , nothing older) - you should find dozens

    nobody here will write it for you, but they will halp you once you have drafted an appeal and posted the draft for critique (minus personal details or references etc)

    and complain vehemently to their HEAD OFFICE , in writing , if you havent done so already , and write on their social media pages etc too

    How do newbies miss the thread that says 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST'? I told you where to look in post #2 and you didn't read the templates? No-one is going to spoon-feed you which ones to choose for your case; it is obvious when you just read them...

    You really need to do a bit of self help June. All the information you need is available here, on Peppipoo, CAG, Parking Cowboys, Legal Beagles, Facebook, et al, you only have to look.
    You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

    Are you referring to a Matalan email address here - in which case what did you say when you sent this email - were you quite forceful in your complaint?

    On the POPLA email as people said take the template from Post #3 of the Newbies thread, cut and paste it into a WORD document, tailor it for your situation and post it back up here, then people will start advising you on what needs to be tweaked/improved to get you a winning POPLA appeal.
  • Ok so i sent this email to matalan and the reply they have given me please check and advise


    Hi I am emailing you regarding a ticket which was issued to my car while I have come to collect a click and collect order .... after speaking to your store manager I have discovered to park in this car park you have to pay for the ticket and then it's refunded to you if you purchase something from the store however I had just come to collect my online order ... and didn't display a ticket without realising it was dark in late evening and didn't see the signs ... I was only parked for 10-15 mins and have a genuine appeal here please if you could on this occasion ask smart parking to cancel this ticket ... i have appealed to smart parking but they say I have to pay . I will be very pleased if you can help me here

    Thank you for your recent email

    I am sorry to hear that your visit to our store has been turned into a poor experience following the receipt of a Parking Fine.

    As with a large number of retail parks across the UK, there is a parking system in operation at this store. The parking system is in place to ensure that the car parks can be accessed regularly by our customers visiting Matalan stores.

    I can understand your frustration and disappointment that you have received the fine. If you feel that the fine is unjustified, please appeal to the car parking company that issued the fine; for example Smart Parking , Parking Eye or UKPC, and follow their appeals process. The appeal process can be found on the parking charge notification. However, If we can help, we will aim to support this appeal using your Matalan reward card for information of the visit.
