3 haven't cancelled an old contract, do i have a leg to stand on?

long story short - i've got a collections letter for £96 and three CS say there is nothing they can do about it, they never got my letter and so i have to pay. i also suddenly have a lovely juicy default on my credit record after working for 4 years to clear up my file.
is there anything at all i can do?
the main thing i want to do is just get rid of the default.

    Do you dispute the £96?

If so write in and dispute it.

    If not, then pay it.

Whatever the answer, you do need to now make sure your contract is cancelled - this may involve giving them notice, and paying another month's rental.
