So I agree you cannot always easily get what you want first go - but if you search google.co.uk using German terms - most often the result are in German (for me anyway)
or just change the .co.uk to .de and that seems to treat me as if I am German.

And when my German fails - I paste the url into https://translate.google.com and it isn't bad (better than anything else I have found).

Or you can go here a https://www.google.com/advanced_search and pick German as the language and the region and .de as the domain extension and to be honest it does pretty well?

Any scenario you need missing?

Dogpile, Ask and Yippy
all used occasionally, I like the clean look of Dogpile and find I am using it more. That said, if I get stuck looking then it's back to Google or DuckDuckGo.

Bing is actually quite good. It does lots of things that Google doesn't do, one for example is when you do a video search it will play the video from within the search results.

If you want facts, data or answers calculated for a range of subjects then Wolfram Alpha is the one for you.
