A price increase of 10% has been bandied around.
Mother gets her electricity from npower. She lives in a 1 bedroom bungalow.
When you include the daily standing charge, her charges will go up to around £380 per year.
That is a 33.35% increase on her current bill.
Has npower no honour?:(0 -

Yes Froglet99, I am very annoyed the MSE has regurgitated the npower press release which claims that the electricity price will rise by an average of 15%.
The unit rate has gone up 5%, but what is worse, they have introduced a standing charge which adds around £60 to a bill regardless of how much energy has been used. Ok, there may be regional variations, but this would be a more accurate way of reporting it. My electricity bill has gone up 80% as a result.0 -
Until last night I thought it was people's inertia that was keeping them on standard rates.
My dad has never switched, he's still with the same providers that took over when they were privatised. He is convinced that switching is not worth the hassle. I think in part because my sister had a bad switching experience over a decade ago. He really couldn't care that he may be paying £20 a month too much for his energy.Had a meter reader on 2nd February 2017.
Should have taken a picture for souvenir.
Last of the meter readers.
Officially they are called meter inspectors and they still inspect smart meters & until the national smart meter database then switching to a different provider makes them dumb and you need to submit reading again. Meter readers are going to be around for a few years yet at least.I still remember a milkman ringing the door bell, asking us to get milk from him. So sad, he was in his late twenties.
I remember that too, it was a couple of weeks ago. Not everyone still has access to a milkman, but those that do are usually unaware of it.0
