O/S Daily Thread Friday 3rd February

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Oh you do sometimes have a lie in then. :D

    Morning all.

Men up and gone to work. Hubby up before Youngest today, it's usually the other way round.

Need to make an appointment with my middle Sons GP. He needs a referral to a mental health team. He has agreed to it finally. Whatever happened to my young sweet boy as he somehow got lost as he got older.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Judi Good that son has finally agreed. It's the first step to making progress. You have to want to change.

I rarely get a lie in - but I do sometimes allow myself to go back to bed. Yesterday I went to my normal class at 0645. Came home and then went back to bed until 12ish. January was a LOOOONG month. I'll run when it gets light.

On that note. DH gone. I'm off to zzzzzzz. Enjoy your morning everyone.

Another wet day here, still, it's Friday, YAY!!!
DGC free night tonight, it's been swapped to Saturday instead and it's the 12yo's turn, he's easy, he gets lots of computer time and an unlimited amount of tuna sandwiches, pizza and chocolate.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning everyone

FBO - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, but damp and dreich forecast yet again.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going to work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, roasties, LO mash (for me), carrots, mushrooms, peas, LO yorkshires and gravy, HM apple strudel and cream. Tonight I'm not sure - but I'm food shopping this morning, so will make a decision then.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I got majority of the washing and drying done, although no ironing, I changed our bed and washed and dried the bed linen. Housework got done, and I rang for Engineer to visit next week to sort out our fridge/freezer - it's become noisy as anything and is sometimes freezing food in the fridge cabinet even though the temp is set at +6, but is then letting it defrost - so I'm throwing food away as not sure if it's safe to eat! I also made some other telephone calls, and did household admin on pc. I wrote a menu plan and shopping list in line with that. I also started a declutter of the filing cabinet, and shredded paperwork that was no longer needed, a way still to go with this.

Today's plan - food shopping first thing, DS2 will come with me, then walk from SM to gym for his induction. I'll come home and unpack shopping, do ironing, have threading appointment at 12 noon, then home to continue with any washing/drying etc, will do some baking/cooking, declutter and shredding and catch up on here.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

Not so cold here today but waiting for storm Doris to arrive, stay safe everyone !

Off to work today but not at work, we have a staff review day so much more relaxed than normal work !

Hot dogs for dinner tonight, I need to nip to the new Tesco express in the next village to get some rolls. I shall then partake of a glass or two of something with ice and tonic tonight !

Little Evie has chewed holes in five pears of my socks, they were good socks too not cheap ones, little madam !!

Right better get ready for work, have good days all xx
  • Morning folks and thanks FBO. It feels very very mild this morning and a nice day is forecast. The weekend ahead sounds much the same too. Might get the garden tidied up a bit (or might not!)

JUDI I hope you can get the help your DS needs. We never stop worrying about our kids no matter what age they are do we.

Not much planned for today other than putting all the decorating stuff back in the garage and then getting on with the Friday clean. On the right day at last! The washing basket is full to overflowing too so must tackle that too. Lots of odd jobs to catch up on.

Meals nearly a re-run of yesterday! Poached egg and avocado for breakfast. The remains of the celery soup for lunch with maybe a bagel. Pasta for dinner - Carbonara for Mr TA and Quorn Bolognese for me. In the fridge already as I left them out in readiness when I was sorting the freezer out.

Have a good day folks if you can and HUGS to all the worried, sad or anxious. LAINEY it's sad to hear about the vicar, especially as DM was a regular churchgoer. Take care all whatever you are up to xx

    Morning everyone.

I woke up in the night because I was too warm, hope it's a good sign.

This morning I'm driving down to Glasgow again. I've got an opticians appointment, collect an order from Lakeland, collect three orders from JL, empty the car of rubbish at Dawsholm and then get to my DM's. I want to leave early enough to get ahead of the first bus.

I heard on the radio Chris Evans talking about the reopening of the bridge in Tadcaster.

    Right, shower, coffee and going.

    Happy Friday to all.

Re:vicars, sadly it seems that for many it is no longer a vocation. There was one in the local church who regarded his Monday days off as sacrosanct to the extent that when one of his parishioners was passing, saw him in he garden and wished him good morning he just replied, "Frank, it's Monday" and turned his back.

I'v been mia the last few days, still fighting off this chest infection and doing s*d all. I'm beginning to feel very fed up with it but I don't feel it's bad enough yet to bother the dr.

    Morning All

Really rough outside, had to get up in the night to close the bedroom window as it was so noisy.

Gers - Have a safe drive.
Glad your DS is going to the Dr Judi.
    Feel better soon snoozer.

Off to work, it's an in-service day - peace from the children, I should get a lot done! We're having a staff lunch, will be good to all be together after the terrible week.

I went to see the family of my lovely friend yesterday after work, not sure the children really understand the enormity (forgive me, I can't spell that word!) of what has happened but it gave the DH a chance to talk.

Have a good Friday, take care. XX
