£3.5k to replace 2 x 5 pane bay windows and a smaller bedroom window. Used them before and very good work. Thoughts on the quote?

I like string. Do you like string? How long do you like your sting? I like mine in measurable lengths, usualy with thickness and manufacture location added, I also like colour, its a great addition to string...0

Well, fwiw, I think it's on the higher side of fair.
But what is wrong with those ones?!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Old, poorly installed and leaking.0 -
I'm waiting for a couple of quotes for 2 5 bay windows, will let you know when they come in.0

If you know it will be good work, pay for it. Maybe haggle over the 500 ...?
I had a kitchen window done on the cheap [landlords idea not mine] and it is so very crap - Im no window expert, but I can see it wont last long and it has been slightly bodged and looks rubbish.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -

I agree, I am inclined to try to haggle a little. However, we know how good their work is and I'd rather pay them £3.5k than some unknown £3k as for the sake of an extra 17% I think I would prefer someone we have positive experience with, given the type of work involved.0 -

I think thats your answer there.
Did you get any other quotes for the work? If someone else offered 3k to do the job, you might be able to persuade your trusted guys to match that or knock off a few hundred from their quote.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -

Good point. Not yet, but we have someone else coming tomorrow to quote.
My only concern is what if new windows do not cure the problem? I am not sure which other specialists to call out to check it. I am also paranoid about impartiality as various different trades people will just say it is x to get another job for themselves or family/friend.0 -
Old, poorly installed and leaking.
Old windows aren't necessarily bad. Some newer ones will likely be far worse!
Where are they leaking? If it is around the openings they can probably be repaired with new seals and hinges where necessary. If it is around the sides of the frames then they are just fitted poorly and can be made much better by resealing the frames and filling any cavities etc.
How do you know they are poorly insulated? They may be no better or worse than new windows.
Are you planning on getting 'A' rated windows? This is the only way you will likely guarantee better insulated windows.
You also need to pay attention to what windows you are getting. They vary immensely in the quality of the frame, glass and accessories as well as the quality of manufacture.0
