Whats the latest with the ABTA score ??? (if you have started the process with them) ??
If you have the email from your booking agent (STA ?) saying no works are planned, etc, I would be using that as evidence that you expected to arrive at a normal hotel... (for your ABTA stuff), and then show the photos u took of the building site, etc to contradict with the STA email about no works, (for your ABTA stuff)....

Did you pay by Credit card to STA ?

As for the flight delay, were u delayed for more than 3hrs leaving the UK ? or u talking of delays on internal flights ? ** Just read your post, looks like u were over 3hrs late leaving the UK airport **

I would say STA need to deal with all this, but like any agent, they don't want the hassle.... How far into the ABTA process are you ?
You probably read this already about the flights ?

  • Well ABTA are looking into it - I have a lot of evidence, videos, photos, emails confirming STA advised no works so i was given a false promise and yes booked all on credit card thank goodness!!

I have heard from ABTA (they have asked for the evidence) and started the process two weeks ago - So i do understand it has got to take some time. STA just don't seem to be bothered, even with all the evidence I have all they could say is "It is not a package holiday and you only booked flights through us" - yet I paid them directly in store and they sorted out the whole itinerary from start to finish with everything in between.

The flights were delayed for 3 hours and 15 minutes before taking off (due to leave at 10am - delayed until 1:15pm) - this then had a knock on effect for our connecting flight and were then sat in an airport for another 6+ hours waiting for another flight from 9:30am when we landed in Kuala Lumpa to 15:40pm to go to Phuket, Thailand.

    Thank you.

According to NHS Choices website http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/salmonella-infection/Pages/Introduction.aspx

You usually get salmonella by eating contaminated food. Salmonella bacteria live in the gut of many farm animals and can affect meat, eggs, poultry and milk. Other foods like green vegetables, fruit and shellfish can become contaminated through contact with manure in the soil or sewage in the water.

Salmonella can be spread from person to person by poor hygiene, by failing to wash your hands properly after going to the toilet, or after handling contaminated food.

You could have picked it up from touching a surface that someone with the infection had touched and contaminated , while out of the hotel.

The glass or bottle you drank from could have been infected.

If the source was the hotel food or the pool, others would have been affected as well , unless you happened to eat the only bit of food that was infected and nobody else used the pool.

I mean this nicely - it's not a good idea to sign up to a site this big using your real name, presumably year of birth, and refer to your partner by his first name. You've made yourself far too identifiable and sadly there are people out there who enjoy causing trouble.

    this ^
it took me seconds to find lots about you and your boyfriend, good idea to change some info about yourself

you may be entitled to compo from the airline depending on the reason for the delay

I would forget the salmonella unless there are other cases the same time you were there.

To be honest not sure what value to put on the hotel issue
  • The salmonella was the icing on top of the cake, my thread is about the construction work and help regarding compensation from that - also I hardly ate foods and only drank bottled water as I was severely ill before flying as well. I have researched into the Salmonella (considering I had no idea i had it until three weeks after returning home I think i did my research too) and I have spoken to the government, health officials and doctors regarding my case. however thats not the point.

Also there is hardly any information regarding me and my personal life - I have just signed up and am fairly new - thank you for the advice but i haven't given anyone my NI number, My bank details , passport number home address for that matter - just my name and my boyfriends fake name for identity reasons. My name is one of thousands in the world - search facebook and you will see.

My thread was regarding the construction works and ways I can go about claiming or if anyone knew of anything to help. The salmonella was the icing on top of the cake. The flights made the holiday go from bad to worse - All i am after is some help not ways to help protect me and my name - I am just new to this and only wanted help - If i wanted ways to protect my identity then I wouldnt have signed up to here - Its a help forum after all.
