You can have cheap or you can have good.

The old adage "you only get what you pay for" applies very well to internet service provision. If you go with a cheap supplier it may all be fine, but if it isn't then getting it sorted out could be a nightmare.

Virgin Media could be useful to you, as you don't have to have a phone line with them. They will be fast but not cheap (unless an offer is on)

Most other places will use the open reach network and require a line rental too.

on ASDL (cheap) speed will depend on how far you are from the exchange.

I'm ex O2 now Sky and am expecting to be moving supplier soon. Using your link and also the fibre/unlimited download filters, then Virgin comes out pretty well at £25/mth for phone and 50Mbps.
    Move along, nothing to see.

of course you need to be in a VM area, and have VM wires coming into your house already.

a couple of weeks ago it was £18 :(
    Maybe that was BB only.

I had VM for 2 or 3 years about 10 yrs ago and every month without fail they've sent me a huge envelope with all their offers.
I say offers, it's difficult to find the price you would actually pay, because prominence is given to how much you could save.
Must have cost them a fortune. :D
