Garage door

Hi all,
I own a house and previous owner has turned the garage to a room which means garage door was replaced with a main entrance door next the other main enterence door
Now I have a plan of both extending it all the way to the back and raise ceiling but don't have the funds to pay for it just yet.
In short term i want to demolish the garage and just install a garage door at the front with no ceiling so I can at least put my car inside the house( leads to garden)
Question is , how much am i looking at to do this? Does garage door come in fixed sizes or is it built for application?

Sorry, I don't quite get what you're trying to achieve. If you demolish the garage, what's the point of a garage door, and what will it be attached to?0
-
Just a door to prevent people waliking into my garden and get access from back door0

Me neither, unless the OP means he will demolish the garage apart from the front wall. Even then, how will a garage door work, with no structure to fix the runners to!
I'd be off to Screwfix to ask for some skyhooks...0 -
I'm struggling to get this bit :
"I own a house and previous owner has turned the garage to a room ...
In short term i want to demolish the garage "
So is it a garage, or is it a room ? Does the OP want to demolish a habitable room just so he can park his car ????
And this : " so I can at least put my car inside the house" - seems a very odd thing to want to do :rotfl:0 -
Could be a Yaris?
You may need to be familiar with the Motoring forum for this. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

LOL, like it. I suppose parking it in the house would make it nice and cosy to work on, retro-fitting those optional rear brakes.0 -
I've heard of the fabled Yaris thread. Some poster called Dark Matter? Anyone got a link to the original post? Would like to read it to see why it's referred to so much.0

Slight correction, house is semi detached and garage leads into garden
When i say demolish garage, i will be removing ceiling and back door/ wall which is between my kitchen and next door neighbour
The walls which my garage door will hang onto will be my boundry wall between me and neighbour and wall oposite ( my living room/ kitchen)
The whole purpose of this exercise is to stop people from walking to my garden through demolish garage door
Does that make sense now?0 -
Not that this helps you but my next door neighbour has a garage door with no garage behind it! It just has a car port roof (corigated plastic). I didn't realise for about 2 years that it wasn't a proper garage! :-D
