Items left in the house we sold

Options
Hi, we sold a house just before Christmas and the only things we left were paints that matched the walls and spare laminate that matched what we had had put down. Left it there as we thought it would be useful for the new owners in case they needed it. (The same had been done for us when we bought it)

They are now hassling me and saying I need to get rid of it as they do t want it. I have a friend with a van who I'm going to get to help
Me but haven't managed to arrange a conveniant date yet but I have now been told I have a week to get it out otherwise I have to hire a skip (which you can bet they would use too!) and which will be expensive.

I could understand if we had left furniture or lots of items but It's not like we left a load of rubbish or anything like that just things that would be relevant to the house and may help them In the future.

Where do I stand on it?

I don't have a big car but a few packs of laminate and some paint tins would easily fit in my boot. Just how much did you leave?

Usually it's better form to ask before leaving items. They may have recarpeted throughout and painted all the walls lime green.

If they don't want it, they can require you to bear the cost of removing it. In their eyes it could be no different to rubbish. Most wouldn't fuss over small things like this, but your buyers have

It's one pack of laminate that was spare and matched the Hall, lounge and dining room. The paint was what was left to match each room and the garage when it was painted and the internal doors that were painted.

We were grateful we had been left the paint when we moved in as it came in really handy. Guess we just thought it would be of use to them too! To be honest I didn't check the shed as that was what my ex was sorting when we sold. In hindsight I should have done.

Hopefully my friend and his van will be able to pop round this week. Just seems pedantic when it was left to help not hinder.

    My thinking exactly.

OP. Just go and collect it and stop off at the tip on your way home.

Why on earth do the intentions make it "pedantic"? You were meant to remove your stuff, and if it's a big enough load to warrant a van or a skip I can see their point.

The thing is it's not enough for a skip! Not at all! That's my point! A friend with a can purely because I've only got a small Car!

Ok then, if it's too much for a small car then I can see their point...

They're being absolutely ridiculous and ungrateful, but sadly you should really remove it if asked.

    Personally i'd ignore.

But the bigger problem seems to be the fact your well intended gestures have not been received with good grace.

Let the ungrateful do so and move on.

You can fit a washing machine in the back of a smart car- just how much paint have you left them with ?:rotfl:
