O/S Daily Thursday 2nd Feb

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning. Up and sort of raring to go. Off to the gym shortly, then some flying to do.

Depending on when a mattress arrives for my friend, I am going round and we will run before getting ready for a girly night out with our group. As a group of 10 non-drinkers we make more noise than the average hen party. Can't wait for our skiing trip in March - it's going to be a hoot.

Ok. Must get a shuffle on. Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone

FBO - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, wet underfoot but not raining at the moment, feels a little colder than it has been but certainly not cold for the time of year.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, peas, broc and gravy - was delicious, the menfolk all had a second helping which cleared up the last portions, when I served up, I portioned the LO pie into 3 so if they wanted more there was enough portions for them to have some each. I decided not to cook the beef that was on the menu for tonight, so have got some pork loin steaks out of the freezer to defrost, there's some LO veg in the fridge that will be used to go with it, and I'll also prep some more as that won't be enough, it'll be roasties, assorted veg, LO yorkshires and gravy.

Work wasn't too bad yesterday - so now on days' off until Monday. I have the usual "to do" list, firstly I'll be heading into town to visit the building society and bank, then straight home to crack on. Washing, drying and ironing are top of the list, then housework, I do need to sit on here and do some household admin type stuff - I need to sort the filing cabinet out as it's rammed full of old bills etc, and I'm sure majority of it can be shredded, so I'll get that done if possible.

Tomorrow or whenever I must do some baking etc, as I have loads of ingredients in the storecupboard and it's not being used, after I'd helped my bro in the kitchen at mum's last Saturday night I remembered how much I enjoy being in the kitchen, pottering and cooking, so I need to get my mojo back, I still have some filo pastry sheets left and some apples so I may make another apple strudel for us, I'll try and get that done this afternoon, then it can be a dessert for those that want some tonight - I'll serve it with cream or custard, I won't have to buy anything either as I have everything already.

Keep safe and well x

Morning All

Wet but fairly mild here, no washing to do this morning, I'll put a white wash on later.

Work was tough as expected, all the parents were e-mailed with the sad news and the children were told mid-afternoon. It was really difficult trying to hold it together at times especially when on the phone but we got there, the HT was amazing - I wouldn't like that job at all.

Anyway, went for something to eat with DD and a friend which was a good distraction. Didn't get home until 9 and was in bed by 10 having had a bath and sorting things out for today.

Need to get my eyebrows sorted after work and take library books back then I really have to sort things to take away at the weekend.

Hope you are all well, have a good day. Take care. XX

Camelot, so so sad to hear about your colleague.
Damp and drizzly here again and another sleepless night, I was reading until 1:30 and again by 3:30, heyho, worse thing happen at sea.
I'm on the 2nd colour of the mandala waistcoat I making for DD1 and I've started a baby blanket for a expectant colleague in variegated pink and white yarn.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.
Chin up, Titus out.

Morning :hello:

The artex was rock hard in places, it actually chipped bits off one scraper blade so that was useless after half an hour. The other scraper has quite chunky handle, obviously designed for man-sized hands so I struggled to grip properly and scrape at the same time. So I was not good at this job at all. I was wondering if it was a good idea to get myself a space suit and an electric sander, seal myself in the room and just sand it all off :D I'm not doing that job again, ever.
Mr tru has decided to sink the radiator pipes into the wall – a decision that should've been made a couple of weeks ago and the job done by now. He wants to do it next weekend. The ceiling is going up today, how is he going to access the pipes above to do the work, without ruining the new ceiling? And it'll involve chasing out the walls – which will have been skimmed by then - in two places  Wish he would just think, he never thinks...........

There's no room to move in the house at the moment. I need one of you to come and rescue me. I'll be easy to find, I'll be sat on the floor in the front garden in the rain, quite possibly rocking back and forth, with a bottle of Bacardi and a very angry face :D

• Morning all, thank you for starting us off FB.
I didn't manage to get here yesterday, partly because I am back in the non-sleeping camp and was tired all day, though quite productive at least.

Camelot, really sorry to read your news.
TA a Humanist service can be very uplifting but how sad that she has had to wait so long.

Yesterday was quite wet, understatement! At one point it really brightened up and I thought I'd just finish what I was doing and go out for a walk. Just the thought brought back heavy rain with a vengeance and it is raining again now. I am quite ok being inside but I would like a walk without being soaked.

Speky thank you for your post from a couple of days ago, I do get email notifications from RM and emails and the occasional call from estate agents. Because the email notifications are automated, they are a broad brush approach and the contacts from agents are quite comical, mostly for houses way outside our search area and some for houses way, way above our means. Never mind, it will happen, I have to tell myself that, otherwise it is all too miserable.

Today I am going to have the pan cupboard out and scrub, we are still waiting to hear from the electrician or quasi-electrician so one of us will need to be here all the time, in case he (or she) turns up unexpectedly. Also will carry on with menagerie 2, menagerie 1 is ready to send to friend for her DGD.

I hope everyone has a good day and also hope for it to stop raining.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread FBO.

It's lovely to see some early light coming back.

Today I start the numeracy teaching, something I'm not looking forward to. Happily only one student has to do it so the others can get on with the other stuff from yesterday.

There's plenty of food in the fridge so no shopping to be done. My day will be rather dull. I'd go out later for a walk but gales are forecast for here.

Camelot - you knew it'd be rough yesterday, at least it's near the end of term.

Happy Thursday to all.
• Morning folks/ Looks a bit dark and drab outside. For once I wasn't a member of the insomniac's club and had a decent night's sleep - probably helped by the wine last night on our girlies night! We had a good night as we always do with lots of laughing and gossiping. And the carvery was as nice as ever. It tasted even better with the 25% off voucher I had!

After a day off yesterday I must resume the decorating today and hopefully get it finished. It would be a bonus if today turns out as bright as yesterday and I could actually see what I was painting this time.

Plans for Saturday's memorial service are coming together I think. Through the Humanist service one or two friends are speaking about happier times they all had and another has written a very moving poem. It won't be all doom and gloom though, as they have planned a "celebration" of her life afterwards with a buffet and her favourite music. They have put together a disc of photos to play throughout and compiled an album of photos to give the children. I hope it goes to plan as they are putting in a lot of time and money on it. It's just sad it had to wait this long.

Well breakfast is calling. Avocado and poached egg this morning. A jug of celery soup in the fridge for a quick lunch with a sandwich. Some smoked haddock out defrosting for tea. I'll probably do it with some salad, baby potatoes and peas.

Have a good day if you can and HUGS to all the worried, sad and anxious amongst us. Take care whatever you are up to xx

Good morning everyone and a wet and overcast day it is as well.Forecast doesn't look promising either ,but at least its not snow so I can cope with a bit of rain.
Woke up feeling very heavy headed for some reason, don't think I slept well at all as I kept waking up every two hours.I can see a 'nanna nap' may be on the cards later. Not very motivated at the moment so I'm going to just have a bit of a pottering day today. No shopping to get at least, and dinner tonight will be the last of the gammon (its really done well and I squeezed five meals from it) and I will pile it up with lots of salady bits from the fridge.
Right, coffee is calling

Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing ,keep warm and dry

Cheers chums
