Checks/Services you have to carry out every year/time period

I just wanted to check if there were any services that I missing or should be carrying out either every year or after a certain period of time. Does anyone have a list of the ones that need to be carried out?

You should have your electrical installation inspected and tested periodically, and a report on its condition obtained.0

I've heard you should get your boiler checked, electrics???0

I did a quick Google and found this : http://www.artofmanliness.com/2013/10/08/keep-your-house-in-tip-top-shape-an-incredibly-handy-home-maintenance-checklist/
Looks like it's aimed at the US but might give you a starting point.
Landlords are supposed to do a Gas Safety/Boiler check every year, I'll probably keep that up when I get to owning a house, seems like a smart idea.
Electrics too, but I don't know how often.
I'd check gutters and drainage regularly, especially during autumn where leaves can cause blockages.
Fire/Smoke alarms should be tested every 6-8 weeks I think, and the battery replaced every 6 months. Also Carbon Monoxide Alarm.
Check your roof at least yearly, also check loft space for insect invaders etc.
Defrost and clean refrigerator/freezer every 3-6 months ish? That's just something I've picked up from Grandma. Don't know if it makes any difference, but icing up reduces the efficiency.
Washing Machine clean semi-regularly. Clean filters, run through some descaler, clean out the drawer etc.
Same for dishwasher if owned.
My gran used to take down and clean her curtains every spring. We have blinds, so less of an issue.
Also: they say you should change your toothbrush every 3 months

If it's your own home then there in nothing that you have to get checked - it's different if you're a landlord.
It's probably a wise move to have the electrics checked when you first move in, after that who knows ? Every 5 years at a guess ?
Gas - an annual check is probably a good idea.
Aside from that, I think clairesilverspar in the above post has given some useful advice.
As I say, in your own home there is no legal requirement to check anything, it comes down to common sense.0 -
Depending on where you live and the amount of trees near to your property, a good clean out of the gutters isn't a bad idea.
I have a bungalow so can do this easily myself and it's not unusual for me to manage to get a fair few large buckets full of rotting leaves and bits of moss from the gutters.
Another good idea is to clean out shower and sink u-bends and any filters that may be there rather than waiting until it starts to clog up.0 -
