HELP, emirates 2 hour delay knock-on effect of 6 hour wait in Dubai

Hi - I'm new to this forum and hoping someone can help to see if I'm eligable for compensation.

I was going on my honeymoon on 15th Jan the flight was delayed whilst I was on the plane and didn't depart until 2 hours later than expected (instead of 08.15, we departed at 10.15) My destination was Singapore but originally had a 2 hour stop over in Dubai (flight was meant to arrive at Dubai at 19.10, and depart Dubai at 21.30 to go Singapore).

As a result of the 2 hour delay at Birmingham airport ,my onward flight to Singapore was missed in Dubai. I was then given another boarding pass which had a 6 hour wait time in Dubai airport (departing Dubai at 03.15 and arriving Singapore at 14.40, rather than arriving at 08.30 as the original booking.

The onward flight was also with Emirates.

Please can someone help me reclaim anything if possible. The worst is I paid £1000 to get this flight changed from 14th Jan to 15th Jan, as we missed the checkin by 5mins (as I had to stop over and get my wife some paracetamols/water and food as she wasn't feeling great)

Much appreciated in advance.

    Emirates cases are here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4445423
have a read of Vauban's guide. In theory you could have a claim for delayed arrival at final destination, from reading the other Emirates cases you will likely find you will need to take them to court (mixed successes)
The fact you had to pay because you missed your flight the day before is not relevant
  • Thanks for the prompt reply Caz, I will most probably go through a third-party as I don't want to folk out for further court charges.
    Thanks

some of the third parties may not take on these cases (delayed less than 3 hours from EU and 2nd flight outside the EU) there are some links on the thread I posted to re some court cases, some successful, some not. The NWNFs tend to like the "dead certs" so if they state (free checker available on sites EUClaim and bottonline) you may want to try yourself initially to get to keep 100%
Have a read of Vauban's guide for an idea of a draft letter
