if you are on one ticket then its the airlines responsibility to get you from one flight to another, they will probably rush you through when you get off the BA flight as they dont want you stuck there costing them money.

I transitted through Seattle recently and this was indeed the case. The passenger sitting next to me only had about 15 minutes to connect with her internal flight. A flight attendant told her she and some other passengers would be met and escorted. A member of ground staff was waiting for them (had a list of names) at the aircraft door when we landed.

Perhaps the same will apply to you?

I was concerned that my transit time of 2 hours wouldn't be enough as I had to clear immigration, collect and recheck my case and go through security. I rang BA who confirmed it was enough time. I also found this site useful

    https://www.ifly.com

It has a good guide to transitting different airports and a forum.

In the end I had an hour to spare.
  • Ive only had connecting flights once with similar changeover time and first flight then arrived late!!

We still made it but had to run from one to other. In our case we just had to show passports and luggage got transferred over but it was same airline.

I think you and the hand luggage will be fine, suitcases may be a bit tight. I would be tempted to pack 3 days clothes in hand luggage and if its really tight just get yourself and hand luggage on. It may well be they do transfer your luggage anyway, we didn't know they did that until we got there.

I've considered that but don't think it's possible. We have 7 days in South Africa (where it'll be quite cold, especially with pre-dawn starts), then a further 7 days in the Seychelles where it'll be rather hot!

We're then heading from Seychelles straight back to London, so we have to have the rest of our luggage somewhere, and won't be back in South Africa to collect it.

I'm still waiting on the travel agent to come back with a solution - either change my flight or get written confirmation our baggage will go straight through.
