  • With PlusNet my connection kept dropping and they tried to blame the wiring in the house. Switched to BT and the issue dissapeares. I get the impression that their network is over subscribed and just cannot cope with demand.

How are people's experiences with Plusnet at the moment?

Things appear to have improved a little for me but I'm still getting occasions at least once a day when things just stop completely.

CS however is terrible. I've been trying to arrange an engineer since January. We are stuck in a loop:
You need an engineer > OK, book one > Sorry, we've tested your line and it's fine so we can't book one > No, it still isn't working > repeat.

I so want to leave and go elsewhere but they refuse to waive the cancellation charge despite all the problems I'm having.

    Hi,

I'm the op on this thread and am still having the same issues, out of contract now and so wondering where to move. A provider with no traffic management, no throttling ideally!

Anyone else still having issues? The service can be fine one moment and terrible the next.

  • We are having issues with PlusNet. Been with them a few years in 3 different properties now. First property we had standard broadband and it was fine. Moved to next property and upgraded to fibre extra, but have never achieved more than 20mbps. Contacted them several times about it just to be told the age old BS of interference, depends how far away you are from the exchange, you need a wired device to achieve the highest speeds, etc etc......

Moved to a new property last week, engineer came out today to fix the line (had to sign up to a new 2 year contract, or pay £65 to transfer the old one (with 10 months left on it), or pay £185 to cancel....talk about forced into a corner), and told us we wouldn't get fibre here as there were no spaces on the exchange, and we more than likely couldn't it at the old property either. Did a speed test and it was 15mbps. Spoke to them about it and they said we'd been put on 'low broadband' for some reason and that they needed to request for us to go on fibre. I told them what the engineer said and it seems they have no answer....I'm trying to find out whether we actually got fibre extra in the old property but after being passed around for 50 minutes on the phone, I was told to phone tomorrow because the dept I *really* needed to speak to closed in 4 minutes
I'm a girlie whirlie despite my username
