Claim a lost mobile on home insurance.

Hi all, just to let you know my dad lost his 6230 and had no insurance (or so we thought) any how it turned out that you can claim a mobile as a personal belonging under home insurance and thats what he done. He paid £50.00 exess!!!!! and got a new phone.

    Yes, you can but:

    (a) not all household insurance includes cover for personal possessions away from the home - but it's easy and relatively cheap to add it on
    (b) you MIGHT increase your house insurance premiums as a result of claiming for this sort of loss.

    But it will generally be cheaper to add a phone to your household insurance than to buy the stand-alone insurance offered by most phone retailers - at least half of the premium for which is presumably commission for them.
