Yes, you can but:
(a) not all household insurance includes cover for personal possessions away from the home - but it's easy and relatively cheap to add it on
(b) you MIGHT increase your house insurance premiums as a result of claiming for this sort of loss.
But it will generally be cheaper to add a phone to your household insurance than to buy the stand-alone insurance offered by most phone retailers - at least half of the premium for which is presumably commission for them.0
