Flight Cancelled / Changed - Causing us to miss next flight

Hello MSE People,

Hope you are all well.
I am in a bit of a pickle, we had our flights booked with (Bulgaria Air) in August 2017 to take us to Sofia airport to allow us to get another flight home to London, seperate booking and not a connection

Bulgaria Air - Bourgas - Sofia 12:05 - 12:55
BA Flight - Sofia - LHR 14:30 - 16:00

Today I received an email from Bulgaria Air that they have cancelled my flight and moved me to a later flight that day departing at 16:00 which as you can see will then cause me to miss my BA flight.

There are no other flights that day with BA and the only flight available is the next day same time from Sofia airport.

Does anyone know if I am covered for compensation here? Is there anything I can do?
BA is charging us £180 for changing the flight, and I would need to book a hotel for the night to stay in Sofia to allow us to get the next flight.

Any advice would be great.

I'm fairly certain you have unfortunately fallen foul of one of the disadvantages of the 'build it yourself' flight plan. Since Bulgaria Air have altered well in advance there is no compensation. Inspect your travel insurance policy to see if there is any joy there. On the plus side Bourgas is lovely and you will have an evening to eat out in Sofia!

If its not too late, you could ask Air Bulgaria to fly you a day earlier and save the cost of changing your BA flight.
