I almost always get it frozen! Way more economical for me because I love it, but I'm bad at meal planning and will often just eat what I feel like each evening, so buying fresh means more waste. The vast array of frozen veggies you can get in supermarkets these days is awesome!0

Lidl at Sittingbourne had fresh spinach today when I went in.

Frozen spinach is a staple for me, used in loads of things including my spinach and mango (also frozen) smoothie. I'm sure that one of the supermarkets does the frozen whole leaf rather than chopped, so in the absence of fresh it could be used. It will either be T or W as they are my frozen veg shops0

In what way?
Jackie I'm sure you'll find some fresh somewhere. I can't imagine M&S being without, but get there early to be on the safe side.
Good luck
Salad leaves are allowed to be kept under water for weeks before being processed and packed, which means they could be 2 months old before you get them.
They are washed in nasty chemicals (most producers will not disclose these) then in chlorine stronger than in swimming pools, then rinsed.
The water does not have to be changed more than once a day in foreign packing centres which means the salad packed at the end of the day is being 'washed' in dirty water.
But because bacteria thrives on cut leaves, the washing doesn't always help.
12% of bagged salads contain e-coli, which has the potential to cause serious harm.
5% of food poisoning cases comes from pre-washed salads,
As we eat these out of our growing seasons, most of the bagged salads come from abroad where conditions are bleak for the workers and factory conditions are dirty.
The growing and production of them is not environmentally friendly.
Always buy whole lettuces where possible and wash at home or in the case of spinach, buy unwashed leaves.0 -
I never buy bagged lettuce because I just think its overpriced and goes slimy very quickly. I have a lettuce keeper that I bought from bettaware years ago which is great and keeps the lettuce freshvery well.It seems looking at the headlines on the BBC this morning that spinach and iceberg lettuce will be rationed owing to a shortage from Spain, they have had a bad season with a cold snap that has affected their crops, so the lady in Tescos was right when she said there was a shortage I will try to get fresh tomorrow but if not I will carry on with the frozen stuff and see how I get on with it.It seems the secret is to get rid of as much of the water as possible before microwaving it .Looks like icebergs will be in short supply so I will have to have possibly Romaine which I will wrap in foil in the fridge to keep fresh.0

Yay managed to snaffle a bag of fresh spinach for tomorrows brunch this morning at S'bobs no lettuce though of any sort ,but I can manage for awhile .
Tescos had put the price of their romaine lettuce up from 70 to £1.25 ,no way will I endorse their profiteering so I will go without until normal service resumes0 -
I noticed a rise in lettuce prices too, in Lid! yesterday tiny iceberg were over a pound, romaine was 79p I think and the pack of two little gem that I bought was 69p.Jan - Mar Grocery spends = £225.20
Apr NSD's = 18/30 Grocery spends = £84.150 -
