I use frozen all the time, but if it was eggs Florentine it would be fresh is best. I buy ready washed pierce the bag and microwave.

ours Sainsb*** had spinach this week- is it worth checking another shop?

I don't buy fresh as we don't tend to use it all before it turns to mush but keep bag of frozen chopped in and add a couple of lumps to risotto etc

    I got in Sainsbobs too.

  • I got some fresh from aldi last week, I can never get on with frozen too much messing, fresh stuffed shrinks down loads ehen cooked so it's rarely wasted :)

I use either for cooked spinach - cook with squeeze of lemon and good amount of freshly ground black pepper and, if frozen squeeze it well. I have steamed it from frozen but it tends to dribble down into the layer below - microwaving in a shallow covered dish is better! I squeeze between kitchen paper.

    Hope this helps

Jackie I've seen fresh everywhere this year. I'd go with trying to find it as it's for a special request and not just for you where you might get leftovers.

Re. Frozen, I find it OK - but whole leaf. Chopped for Saag only. But as people have said. Defrost and drain well. I put in a colander with paper and a weight on top.

    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • I would also go for fresh every time.

It tastes so much nicer. However, I would buy Unwashed because the 'washing' process of bagged salads is very nasty.

I think even though I have a bag of frozen in the freezer I will nip to Sainsbobs on Saturday morning to see if I can find it fresh, the nearest s'bobs to me is at hempstead and there is an M&S there as well ,hopefully one or t'other should have some fresh I quite like spinach and haven't had any for yonks as living alone it would be ages to get through a great amount so if I can get fresh I will and if not then I will rely on the frozen stuff .its won't go to waste anything of the frozen stuff left over as i shall be scoffing it next week :):):) only three more weeks before my DGS and his lovely wife Hayley fly off to their new life in the U.S so I want him to have good memories to take with him of his gran's brunch :):):)

    In what way?

Jackie I'm sure you'll find some fresh somewhere. I can't imagine M&S being without, but get there early to be on the safe side.
    Good luck :)

The person in front of me in Tesco this morning was buying a bag of fresh spinach so there is some around.

We usually use frozen although I do buy the bags of baby leaf spinach from M&S for salads. Even Jamie Oliver uses frozen in some recipes.
