Dunhelm Mill Problem

It's not the cheapest, but at that price point it's a long way from being a premium one. You get what you pay for. Mine cost more than 4 times that price and still the same as the day it was purchased 12 1/2 years ago.
That's fine if you have the money. Our last mattress which was a Relyon memory foam mattress lasted 10 years and was much cheaper. It gave good support up to the point when body heat and the temperature of the room affected things. As you probably know, heat makes the foam softer and maleable which isn't the best for back problems.
If you have that much money maybe you would care to share it and buy me a Hypnos to compare?.

Did you pay for the mattress with a credit card? If so you can complain to your credit card provider about the problems with the mattress as they would be equally liable for any inherent problems. However they would be within their rights to ask you to obtain, at your cost, an independent report to confirm the fault was inherent. However they should at least have a more helpful attitude. And if you don't believe they are treating you fairly then you can complain to them, and ultimately the independent Financial Ombudsman Service.
Yes I did. But I am trying to weigh up the cost both financially and health wise of doing all this now. There is nothing to stop me at least enquiring what proof the credit company need and taking it from there.0 -

I have done a lot of reviewing in the past Torry, and have seen mattresses and beds at this price. I have noted what they are made of when comparing. There is one site that maintains you do not have to try a mattress out if doing things correctly. I actually struggle with that concept. While even in a show room one can never really tell, one does have a better idea I would think, especially when knowing from previous purchases and health what they go for. I have always had a very firm mattress even though nine and a half stone. This Dunelm Mill one was actually slightly on the 'too hard' side, hence the topper to give that little bit of comfort.
Long term illness and poor health for 27 years does not help the budget. As items wear out, they have to be replaced economically. Once our freezer broke down and we were given one. In 2 weeks the energy usage was as much as our old one in 2-3 months, it was crazy. We had to get rid of it and managed to find an interest free deal. Yes, there are plenty of freebies out there, but there can be repercussions!
I would love to have a thousand pounds for a mattress but there is only so much one can do on hubby's Pension Credit.
Thank you for your support Torry.0 -
I would write a letter to customer services at Dunelm enclosing photos stating that you expect the material on a mattress of this price to last longer than this.
They may offer to repair it.
Our mattress from Ikea was £280 and is still going strong after 4 years.0 -

Good idea and it is certainly worth a try. The customer service via the phone was terrible. The young girl had to keep putting me on hold to ask her senior re everything I said. Their Facebook page was no better; I posted what had happened but had no response at all.0 -

Some companies do try to fob you off at first.
Even John Lewis once tried to fob me off over a £600 laptop. I had to write to their HO but got it repaired by them in the end.
So Yes, well worth a try writing to them.0 -

They are indeed very good. Nearly as good as the one from DM - seriously. If one manages to save £5 a week after all the bills are paid, that is around 4 years:j0
