Credit card rights advice

Options
I was buying tickets the other day and went on Viagogo

Said 2 tickets were £74 which was more than face value but thought i would get them.

It came up with a timer saying you have so many minutes that they are being held for and so rushed me through the checkout and didn't have time to read the terms and conditions on the site as it kept telling me other people were looking for the tickets and that they wouldnt be held any longer.

on completion i was sent an email saying i had been charged 74 for each ticket not both plus 45 booking fee and 10 postage which was far too much.

messaged retailer to cancel and they said no as they didnt want to have to resell the tickets.

contacted card company as i thought that if you purchased anything not face to face with a credit card it was my understanding that i had 14 day coolking off period and could cancel the sale.

they are refusing as i must have agreed to the terms and conditions of the retailer.

is this true? do i not have any rights what so ever even though i was never given a chance with the time limit to read what they said?

is there anything i can do to cancel the sale and get my morey back as i have been blatantly ripped off

im feeling stuck as ti here to go from here

thanks

It's true you have no rights to cancel certain items, tickets for dated concerts is one of them.

In you're rush you have totally misunderstood what you were buying and missed the most important parts, the T&C's. You haven't been blatenly ripped off, you got what you paid for at you're request.

    Enjoy the concert.

If you were prepared to pay more than face value for the tickets then others may be too, so put them up for sale when you get them, either on Viagogo or StubHub or Gumtree or....

The time to read the T&Cs and find the charges is before you enter what is effectively a fixed price auction.

When you select an artist/concert it asks you how many tickets you want and then you can see the price in the box which clearly states price per ticket.

    Secondly, when you go through to checkout it states;

Notice the bit where it says +Booking, Handling + VAT

And then the next page for checkout it again clearly states:

The timer is set for 9 mins so plenty of time to read why the price was more. Plus everyone knows with re-seller sites such as Viagogo and Seatwave etc, that that's how they make their money by charging fees.

If you don't want the tickets then re-sell them yourself or just go and enjoy the gig and next time don't be fooled into rushing to click the pay button before understanding the final amount you are paying.

  • I was never given a box with a drop down. It came up with a list of physical buttons that had a 2 in it and 74 pounds. To me that was saying 2 tickets for 74 pound.
  • Maybe it's different on the mobile site
  • And I have never heard of viagogo before, it's not a site I've used, why should I expect them to rip me off? The time runs out fast on a mobile by time page has loaded and you have filled in all forms to register on phone. It was nearly up when I clicked final submit
