Also, a 2-year-old PC hasn't lasted a 'reasonable' time so if it's broken, you may have a claim against whoever sold it to you under the consumer rights legislation. Others will know a lot more about this than me though.

It's a Lenovo with all the pc stuff being in the monitor,

Sorry I missed the other thread, I work with these a lot as we use the touchscreen ones in our systems. Usually if they start OK but start to run slowly quite quickly and get worse to the point they won't start it is likely that the heatsink is blocked up with dust and fluff, its a common fault on the ones that come into my service department although they tend to be 3 years old or more however are operating in a clean environment. Cleaning it out requires removing the whole back and whilst it certainly is possible to do at home the amount of force you have to use to pop the clips off would usually put a lot of people off and if you get it wrong you can break the clips. Lenovo have good in depth service manuals on their website.

Daughters Toshiba laptop kept shutting down. Stripped it down and yep the super fine fins for the CPU cooling was full of fluff.

Vacuum on the outlet and a blast of air to help shift the stubborn bits and all is well again.
If your PC or laptop has vents, connect the plug to the mains, you dont need to power it on, its just to reduce the rosk of static. and vacuum the vents out every now and then.

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

    Yeuk!
Mind you I clean my tower case out about every six months. It's surprising what builds up. And how much cooler it runs after.

I clean out my laptop every few months. Fortunately mine is easy to do ... Take out 4 screws, remove a cover and the heatsink/fan is easily accessible.

Luckily i have a utility room with a sink for jobs like that. Flushed it though, under the tap and yuk was an understatement. The sludge didn't go down the plughole, it just blocked it...

I did wonder if the user knew what a vacuum looked like.
