I've moved house 7 times in the last 9 years.....I never had removal men and I say that a tip is worth it. It's bloody hard work moving house and a tip of £20 isn't going to make your removal men rich but it says "thanks" which is nice.
Just run, run and keep on running!

When we had our last move, it was a bit of a nightmare and they worked really hard. We didn't have much cash on us so just gave them about £10-15 between the two of them 'to buy themselves a couple of beers'. They seemed quite happy with this. As an alternative you could buy some beers to give them at the end.

We've never employed removal men, just used employees? Is that the same thing?

Personally, I think, from what I've seen, that good removal men are worth a tip or twenty. But if not, it's not as if people will see them for a year or so and they'll give bad service the next time around is it? :)

A crate of beer seems to help though ;)

    I couldn't agree more. You gypsy ;):D

But seriously, It's nice, if people can afford it, to give a tip imo. If not, so what?

(I feel the fraud bandits bearing down on me. Unpaid earnings etc! and not for me but for the people we've tipped!)

And I feel awful about having a laugh about it all ... but she did!

Me? I only want two more moves, and I'll probably get only one .... but it won't be to the next door neighbour's house. His sense of style's a bit iffy ;)

Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

When we moved 4 years ago it was with an established furniture removal firm who I had used on occasions before. I tipped on arrival at my new home, however , after signing the form which they quickly pushed under my nose, they left. I then discovered one of my adorable couches had a rip a mirror was missing and a deck chair was ruined. I had no redress as I had signed that everything arrived in order.....let that be a lesson to everyone don't sign anything until you have checked or do what I do now and sign it as unchecked. The insurance would not cover the damage also.....Beware

Don't know about tipping, but I would thoroughly recommend getting a friend, neighbour or family member in on the day JUST TO MAKE THE TEA! :D And the bacon butties etc. If they can bring their own kettle and mugs, so much the better!
