Compensation for delays landing at a different airport?

With a friend, we returned from a holiday in Tunisia ( Nov 2012) but mid flight were informed the plane was landing at Bristol instead of the expected airport at Cardiff.
My questions are.....
1) Is this classed as a flight delay and claimable?....insofar as the flight was slightly delayed but adding the delay at Bristol waiting for coach transfers and the road trip to Cardiff, the overall addition to our expected travel time was over 4.5 hours
2)am I in time to make a claim
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Cheers

Why did the plane divert? If Cardiff airport was closed due weather for example then no compensation due0

what airline were you flying with?0

In reply to above.....
Flight was with Thomas Cook Airlines
Flight was diverted to land at Bristol for no reason given to us whatsoever. It appeared to be purely for logistic reasons that the aircraft needed to be there for another flight the next day
Cardiff airport was open and operating
Again...the pilot just announced around 1 hr away from landing the change without any justification.
There had ben a delay leaving Tunisia of around an hour or so waiting to board and sitting on the stand.
Refreshment vouchers were eventually offered at Bristol ( which implies the delay had already been over 2 hrs at that point).

On the basis of what you have said it would appear that you are possibly due compensation. Put your flight details into EuClaim and Bottonline and see what they say. If they say you are due compensation download and read Vaubans guide and follow the advice given therein.0
