Looks as though my sky HD box has bitten dust. Thay could be just the thing we need to make a decision to change things a bit ......but to what? More/new sky, freesat, new tv with freeview, android box + more I've not heard of yet?
Hope to get some advice here from other members as to what solution they went for and pros/cons of each?
Thanks for any advice.

Depends upon what channels you want to watch .0

Tks JJ Egan. I don't need sport or kids channels. Download the occasional film but that's a rarity.0

Freeview then .
TV set with catchup .
Catchup via a tablet pushed to TV .0 -
A bit of a novice I'm afraid.
How do I push from a tablet to TV?0 -

Chromecast?
I've just refreshed my technology and currently have this:-
- LG 4K Smart TV (which runs all the main players including UKTV, Now TV and Youtube).
- A Now TV box, which I think I don't need (got it before the TV). Although the Now TV app runs more smoothly on the Box than on the TV.
- A Now TV 6 month Entertainment pass.
- No TV Licence (only watch commercial catch-up & video on-demand).
- Total monthly cost at the moment: £3.17.
I might swap to Netflix when my Now TV pass expires to see what 4K content they have.
What you need depends on what equipment you already have and what content you want to get access to.0 -
SIL uses Chromecast from his laptop to TV in excellent quality. I used a Push2TV adapter from my Nexus 7 (2nd gen, with screen cast capability) to a TV, also decent quality, before we plumbed the house up with magic eyes. I'm in the process of binning Sky and switching to BT TV - having BT Infinity 2 fibre means I get a good deal on BT TV.0

The new Humax Freeview boxes have quite high capacity (1 tb or 500mb), record up to 4 programmes at once and have catchup.
The problem for me was the colour scheme (white with coffee leather effect or black with dark brown), both of which are very cheap as refurbs, via the website. They do a 2tb all black box, called Nero, but it's exclusive to the website, has no refurb offers and is quite a bit more expensive.0
