    What about Cape Verde ?

Worth a look ! It's beautiful, has stunning beaches but you also get to see the other side of it.

Lots to see and do and great food !!

Also prices are really good for the level of accommodation you can get.
  • You can also fly to the West coast of Mexico from Manchester on the Thomson Dreamliner I think. Puerto Vallarta. More Mexican than Cancun

Another vote for Costa Rica, it's a special holiday, what's a bit more travel inconvenience? Look up Manuel Antonio National Park, you can walk jungle trails in the morning and be on a Pacific beach in the afternoon. Missed The cloud forest as pushed for time on a long trip but plan to go back one day.

Mexico is a good choice if you are willing to sacrifice seeing much wildlife. There are lots of other ruins beyond chichen itza and swimming in a cenote is a great experience
  • I was going to post about the relative ease of booking a through flight from Manchester via Heathrow.

Then saw the Costa Rica flight departs from Gatwick ...

BA flight from Manchester->Heathrow->San Jose, Costa Rica is an option

but I'd left it out as the OP wanted to fly direct from Manchester and not spend >12 hours on a place

I realise that you wouldn't get jungle but CapeTown is 12 hours direct from London. Don't know if any airline flies Harare or Livingstone. Amazing animal safaris, Vic Falls.....

Yes, sorry I forgot Australia was such a long flight. It was only 7 hours for me when I used to go there for winter breaks.
    Definitely ignore my suggestion!

7 hours! Did you fly in the USS Enterprise?

OP you're not going to get jungles in a 7 hour flight because they're on the Equator which is at least 10 hours. What about somewhere like Morocco at 4 hours?
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Well you can get to most of west Africa on a seven hour flight, and that has plenty of tropical jungle.

Not an obvious joliday choice but would be something different.

It used to take me 9 hours from Heathrow to Nairobi, but from Manchester maybe it would take longer. I know it's East Africa but there's no rain forests there.
