Is there anyone we can trust re:cashback??

As the above!!

Really need 2 free/cheap line rental ( when i say cheap i don't mean £10/£15/£20!) ASAP!!

Just finished with osps, after some promting & orange getting involved all went v.well, can't moan, but there are no deals there at the mo :(

Any help is much appreciated :)
No one said it was gonna be easy!

  • No, there isn't now. A lot has changed since your last deal with osps. If you want a cashback deal you really have to know what you're doing now; there is absolutely no margin for error and even without one it's fraught with risk. In addition (and an indication of intent) dealers have significantly moved from the best deals being on cheap tariffs (hoping you'll overspend) to expensive ones (intent on ensuring you fail to get your cashbacks and thus making higher profits).

There was a feature about cash-back contracts on today's You and Yours. There is a growing call for these schemes to be banned. You can hear the broadcast here (Real Player) :-

What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • ive eventually got my cashback with t mobile but t mobile are rubbish! :)
  • I won't be among those on a crusade to have cashback deals banned. As usual protecting the unwary and careless (supposedly) will not do that at all and end up hitting the rest of us! Caveat emptor is quite sufficient!

CPW is probably safest bet, go via quidco (£60), trade in an old phone, manual and charger (£20) and they still have the best and most lenient terms (copies accepted and a 60 day window). But deals not a good as others, its all how much your willing to risk.
    ummm...
  • I agree about CPW. Last year my contract was through Mobileshop which took months to pay each cashback. Now I'm with CPW the cheque arrived about 4 weeks after sending the bill copy to them. No problems at all. JC
  • That was then. This is now. I suggest you read the many problems people are NOW having with cpw companies - and all the warnings that a few of us have been giving. Try telling "no problems at all" to the people who have been writing to me this week despairingly about rejected claims - totally unjustifiably and incorrectly declined! That's just the start - watch this space! I really would suggest most strongly now that NON-ONE goes to ANY dealer offering 12 or near 12 month free cashback deals unless they are extremely aware of what's going on and how to negotiate through the barbed wire - especially cpw!

Yeah - using "trust" and "cashback" in the same sentence is a dangerous combination.
